Die, AOL scum!!
Sep. 19th, 2003 01:57 pmI had talked to THREE AOL & Time Warner reps asking if I could have AOL Broadband and use Internet seperately from the AOL program like I do now. They all said yes. So this morning I swtiched.
Christ on a bike.
I spent the last 2 hours first configuring AOL and then finding out that, no, I couldn't use Internet seperately from the AOL software and, in fact, after I got done with AOL Tech support, it still didn't work right. So, frell that. I called AOL to see about an E-mail Only plan ($2.95 a month) and ended up staying with the $24.94 BYOA account. To be fair, the woman was really nice and helpful and said that the person(s) I talked to didn't know what they were talking about. *snerk* With that fixed, I called Roadrunner to see about changing back. Which I did. And it was relatively painless. Except we still owe $44.95 for that and I didn't get some nice cushy offer for switching back. I'm sure I sounded completely manic and insane on the phone. If anything, at least I have our master e-mail account info now.
If my father doesn't use dial-up and both he and my brother just want AOL for the e-mail, then I am switcing the plan to the E-mail Only one because really, $24.95 is a ridiculous price for the amount of non-usage we have.
I still have to install the new USB card in my machine, but I think I'm gonna go eat lunch first and see if my brother has software for it.
