work; tv: doctor who

Well. Woke up and I was having one of those days. You know, the ones where I am dizzy and migraine-y and tired. Ugh. So I called in. I thought about going in later, but it never happened.

Instead I watched Doctor Who series 4. Yeah. It was pretty great. I loved Donna, possibly even more than I love Martha. Oh! When Martha came back, that was so cool. I mean. I didn't like that when Donna wanted to go with the Doctor he was all "oh no, not more girls who fancy me" and Donna was like, "please!" because apparently all his Companions fancy him. Which, they do I guess. So Martha comes back and he's all weird about it for like 3 seconds. Oh, right. Donna. Donna is so much more fun and I love that at the end of the "Sontaran Strategem," she whacks him on the arm instead of hugging him. I was totally clueless about all the little appearances of Rose throughout, so that was kind of a fun surprise. The Agatha Christie episode was pretty awesome (will have to show queenmaab) and "Turn Left" was pretty cool. I actually liked "The Doctor's Daughter" a lot more than I thought I would when I first heard what it was about. I hope they bring her back. The one thing I haven't seen yet is "Journey's End" because SciFi played it a bit earlier than normal so my DVR didn't get it. Blargh. I hate that. Trying to remedy that now, but it could take a while.


Argh. I guess I should try and upgrade my video drivers and see if that fixes anything. Hrm. Middle of something, so maybe.. later? Yeah.

Also watch Dr. Horrible again. On the big TV! It was so shiny. And watched Underworld: Evolution. Still really like that series of films. I do! They're not the best written things, but whatever. Obviously I'm a sucker for vampire/werewolf things.

Still feeling light-headed and blah, so I do believe I'm headed for bed now...

It is probable you got more enjoyment out of watching s4 like that, free of the endless speculation on spoilerage and post-ep postmortems and wanking about the Return of Rose. (It is probable I would have been happier not hearing that David Tennant apparently started dating Georgia Moffet after she played his daughter in that ep.) Be prepared to be offended by the final ten minutes or so of "Journey's End" when you see it, and don't expect there to be any plot at all.

Yeah, I kind of bypassed all the fanwankery and I'm pretty sure if I look back there will be tons of it.

I'm not entirely surprised by the David/Georgia thing... he does like the young blondes. *shrug* Whatever.

Erm. I've already spoiled myself for Journey's End. Just looking forward to the spectacle playing out on screen!

There was good discussion, there was good fic, but there was a lot of stressing about how Rusty was likely to screw up the finale before it aired -- and a lot of reactions afterwards. I enjoyed it, but I'm at the level of involvement for the fandom that wants the meta enough to accept the wankery.

And, yeah. I need to rewatch that last pair of eps, partly because we missed the beginning of JE and I was distracted during the previous one, but largely because I still need to show it to my mother. Just can't motivate myself to do so yet...
