Sep. 26th, 2007 09:33 amMotherfraker. Late again this morning -- not really a surprise. Except I
actually got up half an hour earlier so I should have been on time.
Unfortunately when I checked my e-mail and discovered that
signalroom.netwas hitting it's bandwidth for the month, which is
completely baffling
because there isn't really anything there is except a few images and tiny
mp3 clips. So, of course I had to go dig through the stats to see what's up.
I still can't figure out where the drain is coming from, exactly, but I'm
getting a load of traffic off three spammer sites and there must be someone
hotlinking three of the mp3 files. Erm. Actually, that's probably where it's
coming from, but that's not 2GB worth of transfer.
For now I'm blocking those three referers (I think... if I set up the
.htaccess right) and blocking mp3 hotlinking, if that even works right with
.htaccess. If it continues, I guess I'm going to have to go the Tomination
route and implement a password protect on all mp3s, which is a pain in the
ema. Mostly because people are retarded and can't read. It takes them longer
to find the contact form and write me asking me what the password is than to
read the bolded text telling them what the user/pass are. Ugh.
Anyway. So
tylergrrls Bree -- I'm on top of it. Mostly.

Date: 2007-09-26 04:23 pm (UTC)I do actually know where all that traffic is coming from (mostly). Partially, it's mp3 hotlinking and the other part of it are the referrer spammers. The hotlinking I think I've taken care of, but I need to adjust my .htaccess to deal with the spammers. They're probably pissed that I fixed my forum so they can't really spam that anymore.
