Yesterday, I actually cooked dinner. I know, I know. I made a salt & garlic chicken with stir fried romaine and croissants. Nothing spectacular.

After dinner I went over to [livejournal.com profile] thebigfatman and [livejournal.com profile] pgnblade's. Hung out and watched the first two episodes of Tennant's Doctor Who season.

Was sort of productive today. Go, me!

+ cleaned my room (er... some of it, not all of it)
+ went to the post office and sent pakages to [livejournal.com profile] athenaktt and [livejournal.com profile] devildoll
+ fixed printer sharing on the wireless machines
+ won a brown pinstripe suit! wooohooooo! $10, so even if it's the ugliest suit ever, whatever.

Unfortunately, I still haven't done my taxes. Argh. Might attempt that now.

Nick Brendan's in a new Sci Fi Original movie -- Fire Serpent. I bet it's a winner :-P

Hm. They just showed a commercial for the new BBC Robin Hood series that's airing on BBC America. Looks pretty cool. I should look into that.

Umm, according to my friends list that version of Robin Hood isn't all that great.

But yay for brown pinstripe suit!

Dude, this movie is like...the worst thing ever. I'm actually embarrassed for Nick, so much so. Wow, just wow. He should give up and go into like sea shelling painting if people want him for these movies. It'd be less embarrassing at the ol' high school reunions.

OMG, I'm watching it now and it's terrible. Poor Nick. Poor Robert Beltran. Is this what they are reduced to??

I've seen better badfic than this crap. Seriously. That line about knitting?? Oh my god, what a crappy exchange. And the wooden acting. And the villain. I think I want my two hours back before it's over. Apparently someone else managed to tie with The Village finally.

I couldn't watch anymore. I had to change the channel. Eeesh. Obviously these people need to make money, but really...

I'm figuring a house payment came up or something. I'm watching it, man does it suck. Like, so bad. I want to cry how bad it sucks. Poor Nick. Everyone, really.

Never heard of the film, but see the icon? It's our dearly beloved Robin, who will not be returning to English screens until after the next series of Doctor Who. So I get the Tennant, but no Jonas Armstrong. Ideally I'd have both at once.

As for what the series is actually like, hmmm. If you're a stickler for historical accuracy you'll a) hate it or b) love watching it with my dad, who complained throughout except when he was snickering or doing the Eyebrows of Innuendo.

Keith Allen (if that's his name) does a marvellous pantomime Sheriff. Robin is admittedly far too young to have realistally spent five years fighting in the holy land, but is a damned fine bit of eye candy nonetheless.

Marion is neither blonde nor skinny; she's a proper sized woman, which is always nice to see because it makes me feel less morbidly obese, and she's a reasonable actor too. Her relationship with Guy of Gisbourne is probably the most interesting element if you're into big story arcs and character development (which I'd guess you are, as a fan of SG:1). It's well played, in a way that both films and I-as-a-kid tended to miss.

But there's also a whole heap of silliness and some downright absurdity, and references which I want to describe as anachronistic, but I'm not sure what that means, so I'm off to check a dictionary.

Yeah, I mean anachronistic. It's a good programme though. Just don't go expecting anything too highbrow. And remember to dribble over Robin. And to appreciate the accuracy of accents; Guy of Gisbourne actually sounds like he's from South Yorkshire, which is a damned site closer to Nottingham than most actors who portray him are. (Sheffield, to be precise. Also where Boromir comes from. Sean Bean would have made a great Guy of Gisbourne. And damn, I was disappointed when I saw RotK and realised not all the Men of Gondor are Yorkshiremen.)

Hee. I'm getting some mixed reactions -- some people say it's good and some say it's not so good. I don't have BBC America, so either will probably have to download it to see it.

Sounds interesting though, so I'll probably check it out. :)

Oh, cool -- I saw the other post about someone else doing a Rose outfit and for some reason thought you were still talking about Build-a-bear stuff, but you're doing actual costumes? For what con?

Also I've heard sketchy reviews of the new Robin Hood, so I'm thinking it may be worth downloading now that I'm done with Rome but don't expect to fall in love with it.

Nope, we are doing actual costumes for Shore Leave in July :D

Though if I can get all of my stuff together, I'm going to have a trial run at ICON at the end of March.

Yeah... maybe if you download that I could get a copy from you? XD

I'm assuming it'll be fairly easy to find all packaged together, but if not I'm not likely to stress it. I've certainly got a high enough stack of DVDs and AVIs I have yet to watch (to say nothing of a new computer to set up this weekend).
