Disregarding the whole waiting to find out if I had to work today ordeal, today was a pretty good day. Once I found out I didn't have work, I spent some time trying to upload a file to megaupload and then downloading some other clips and things. Then [livejournal.com profile] cassiejamie and I watched the last three episodes of DLM season 1.

Ran some errands. Got gas. Went to the bank. Stopped at Blockbuster to pick up a copy of The Breakfast Club for [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab and nearly picked up used copies of Blade: Trinity and The Notebook, but I was good and put them back. Drove to my old doctor's to get my last blood test results. Drove to Crossgates, where I met Matt & [livejournal.com profile] queenmaab for dinner before going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It seriously is just as good and cracked the second time around.

In other news, my mom said my father called and was weird on the phone.

Have work tomorrow. Very exciting. Not.

And now today's gripes:

My doctor. Is a pain in the ass. Apparently, getting a copy of all of my records is like pulling teeth. All I managed was the results of my last blood test. I have to get my current doctor to fax over a release form for them to provide anything else. My mother thinks it's because they're afraid they're going to be sued. Ugh.

The roundabout. In the Mohawk Commons, there used to be a roundabout/traffic circle near the part where the Blockbuster is. I liked it - I know how to use it. It also keeps traffic moving properly in that section. Apparently, other people aren't so smart as I've seen the roundabout sign hit numerous times. It's been a while since I've been over that way, so imagine my surprise when I discovered the whole roundabout had been ripped out and paved over. Now there's just this big paved area with no signage. Is this going to be free-for-all driving? And what retards screw up using a roundabout so badly that you cause the property owner to have it removed?! *sigh*

Wow. And I totally forgot to post this oh, two hours ago. Oops. At least I managed to finish all my voting at the [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_awards05. Except the fanvid category, which I'm nominated in.

that was a seriously cracked movie - i love it!

wait - the round-about is gone?! personally, i hate them, but i do know how to use it. there aren't all that many around here, so i don't think many people know how to use them - and as a result, i avoid them like the plague. lol. tards!

oh! did you hear about the Dunn Memorial?! EEK! that is how dan goes to work in the morning!!! *wibble* i don't like that - at least they found it and have closed it! *gack*

Well, I understand that people have roundabout issues, but at no point and time should you be so freaked out by a tiny roundabout with signage that tells you which direction to drive that you plow into said sign that's in the middle of the roundabout. I don't get that part.

The movie is still sitting on my floor. I really need to return it :-P

Yeah, no surprise that you're having fun getting your medical records out of them -- your mother's right that the assumption is usually an upcoming lawsuit rather than a change of physician, but I'm kind of surprised that they wouldn't give them to you personally. (Given that when I worked in Dad's office we'd happily give a patient their own records -- or a minor's records to a parent -- though we might make them fill out a little release form while they were there. And even having a release form sent over by another doctor's office we'd have to have a patient signature on the form. I don't know how much may be a state law difference between New York and Texas and how much the laws may have changed -- the attempts to protect patient privacy basically led to blanket record-sharing authorization forms becoming standard procedure in most medical practices, which might account for them wanting the records request to come from your new doctor rather than from you.)

Well, you'd think that a patient could get their own records, even if I had to sign something saying I wasn't going to sue them or something. *shrug* I'll just have to have my new doctor's office fax them or whatever.

See, even if you were suing them you'd have a right to your own records. Or you should -- I really would be shocked if the law in NY was such that a patient can't get their own records for whatever reason. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if the people working in the doctor's office weren't familiar with the way the law actually works, especially if they're not old hands at the job. (Say, being so used to all records requests coming either from other doctors or in the form of subpoenas that they don't realize why records requests tend to involve special forms -- to protect patient privacy, IOW.)
