stupid USB
Sep. 19th, 2003 07:26 pmRight. So I tried to install that USB card.. and not only did it crash my machine, but it made start up super-slow. We're thinking my board is not USB 2.0 compatible, whic could explain the issues with the wireless. *shrug*
My only other real solution: drill a hole int he floor and run a line from the router.
Not so sure people would be happy with that.
Anyone know anything about wireless & usb? I'm using a Siemens 1022 wireless USB adapter. Windows 98SE. Basically the adapter freezes all the time. It used to be just when I as downloading torrents. Then it would be when I use IE to browse. If I leave AIM open and not IM people, it seems fine. If I unplug the USB adapter, my machine freezes. To get it to work again, I basically have to uninstall the USB port, restart, and let the comptuer reinstall it. Then I can get a decent connection for a few days... or hours. *sigh*

Date: 2003-09-21 05:54 pm (UTC)This is probably the solution I'm going to be employing for my wireless problem. It's either upgrade to 802.11a to get the greater range so our phones stop killing the signal, or go for the powerline network.
My only concern is if it will work over a powerstrip or not. :-/
