It's how LiveJournal sorts the journals, helps them load faster and whatnot. They were labelled 1 & 2, so people started thinking it was a status thing, so the LJ guys renamed them. heh.
And a related but random thing: our servers at work are called Chef and Mr Hanky. We used to have Kenny, but (really, truely) he died! Maybe I should find that a little less hillarious than I do....
