movie: boondock saints ii
Nov. 26th, 2009 05:30 amSitting in the airport waiting to board my flight so I figured I'd take the time to write an entry on Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day.
SPOILERS of course.
The film opens with the murder of a priest, setup to look like the Saints did it. They didn't, of course.
So we go to Ireland where the boys and their father have been hiding for the last 8 years. They find out about the frame job and we get a little montage of them cutting of their Jesus beards and hair and wearing their Saints garb again.
I'm going to stop retelling right there and just continue with random thoughts..
Saw Bryan Stoyle in the scene with the cops! I think he was in the crowd scene at the end, but I didn't see him.
Julie Benz was a total badass as Eunice Bloom. Loved her accent and they way she messed with the boys. I suspected she knew about the Saints from Smecker, but wasn't sure.
Norman Reedus. That's all I have to say about that really :)
Sean Patrick Flanery was always my favorite. Uh, but I don't get what happened to him for this one. He was kind of puffy in the face. Like, bloated rather than fat. It was sort of distracting. I don't think he looked like that in the videoblolgs, which is weird.
The film looked a bit like one shot in the late 90's. But I think that worked for this film. The shoot outs looked great and felt like the ones from the first movie.
Romeo was a better character than Rocco. Just sayin.
LOVED when Eunice was investigating crime scenes. Mirrored Smecker so well.
Greenly made me LOL. Why did they do that to him?!
Really liked Noah's backstory and the origin of the Saints.
Also. HI SMECKER! :D

Date: 2009-11-26 06:02 pm (UTC)I was in the crowd at the end; they shot that on the same day (right in front of the church). They told everyone wen they got ready to shoot to switch positions in the crowd; if you were in the front during the police entrance (like I was) you were to go to the back while those in the back would come to the front. Guess it made things fair for everyone who came out.
The jury's still out for me on Greenley's death. I'll have to see it again before making the final call; right now it only felt like an excuse for the boys to talk to Dead Rocco. :p
And, yeah...Willlem Dafoe FTW!
