baking: apple cup pies
Jul. 1st, 2009 07:34 pmDecided to try out the cup pies again today. This time I went with an apple filling detailed here. I ended up buying two boxes of pre-made pie crust and used 5 Cortland apples. I made 18 cup pies and 3 uncovered... pie tarts?
There was a little bit of spillover this time as well, but I think most of that was me not sealing the tops to the bottom crust well enough. They still came out of the muffin tray easily enough though.
Here are some photos of the process and finished cup pie.
Making the filling, which was the easiest part!

Cut out the bottom crust and filled the pans (lightly buttered):

Filled the pies:

Tops placed on. Next time, I have to remember to seal them better...

Egg wash and sprinkled on some sugar:

During the last part of baking, the liquid spilled out from the seam:

But they still came out of the pan and are pretty tasty!

I think I done Chuck proud :D Or Ned. Anyone from the Pie Hole.
