power outage; arc reactor!!

Ugh. Our power went out at 4pm and only just came back. I was bored out of my skull for hours, people. Hours. First... I played DS for awhile. Then I took a nap. Got up about 7pm and there was still no power. Whined. seijitataki and I debated fictional power sources: arc reactor vs. naquadah generators. Whined more. Called National Grid to see what was up and was faced with their ridiculous automated system which only records your outage complaint. Three hours later, four utility trucks rolled in to fix the problem and power has been restored! YAY!

While I was unavailable, it seems sweetwildandmad has made something quite awesome: AN ARC REACTOR. OHHAI. Can I has one, plz?

Okay, now that power is back, I can go back to working on stuff I was doing 8 hours ago.

i'm sorry. i really am. i just cracked my ass up laughing at the thought of being totally at odds with the no-power thing.

being so used to it as i am since i seem to remember it happening a lot as a child, a propane lantern and a deck of cards were more often than not the answer. or a propane lantern and the monopoly. ("it's three o'clock in the morning, gramma! you win!")

so. who won? you or your bro? and who was on what side? were you rooting for naquadah or the iron man thing? and what about zpms? i mean, that's crazy power. and i doubt anything in your house would run it down quite like sending a transdimensional twin back to his own dimension...or something like that :op

(it's late. maybe that's why everything is so funny. i...i can't come up with a better excuse.)

Well. Actually, yeah, the power still does go out all the time during the summer in my neighborhood. It's annoying. But that day I just really didn't know what to do with myself!

Of course I was rooting for the arc reactor, but my brother was trying to logic me with the naquadah generator. And I was like, yeah, okay, I'll give you that if they were to blow up, it would be a huge BOOM! but I don't think they necessarily have more power. I mean, it seems that the Mark II arc reactor would be running Tony and the suit indefinitely. Two naquadah generators only run a command chair for like 20 minutes.

Uh. There was more geekery involved, but I got lost and I think my brother came away feeling like he won.

and no one brought up ZPMs? i mean, naquadah is all well and good, but ZPMs are where it's AT :op

of course, until i actually SEE Iron Man, i won't be able to properly weigh-in on this issue...

and i just love those arguments discussions where after all the back and forth, you're not sure who won or even which side YOU are on anymore :op but based on the information you've presented, since he chose naquadah instead of ZPMs, i think you win.
