Nothing like some shopping in the middle of the night... when I should be sleeping.
Am finally getting pieces together for a proper SGA costume. I know, took long enough. I'm going to be doing the black BDUs that Sheppard started wearing a couple seasons ago. So far I've got:
+ BDU shirt (from fullmetaljacket.. apparently the only people who are carrying decently priced 2-pocket BDU shirts)
+ BDU pants (from Soldiercity.com)
+ Atlantis Project patch
+ USA flag patch
I'm still looking for the boots. I don't know if I want to go withthe tactical boots or try to find the ones like Sheppard has. The problem is that a lot of the boots are sized for men only, which means I'm look for a size 5. Quartermasters (which is where I'm really looking for boots) usually doesn't carry boots in those size, so my choices are limited.

If you need the flag patch, go to www.patchgeeks.com -- members of my group have worked with them to make sure their Stargate patches are as accurate as possible.

Date: 2008-01-16 02:50 pm (UTC)Basically any BDU pants will do, but the BDU shirt is very specific. It's the 2-pocket SWAT style (two top pockets only) with epaulettes (extra shoulder piece where rank pins go).
Propper and LawPro are both good brands, but kind of pricey, so I can only suggest Googling. These are places I've bought from before though:

Poke around and see who has your size in stock. Be warned that dye lots vary greatly for the OD green and navy BDUs (even from the same company sometimes), but I'm not sure abut the black. I'll let you know.
If you're doing a S3/S4 Sheppard costume, he's wearing the long sleeve black BDU shirt (sleeves are folded up usually), black BDU pants, and... $200 Matterhorn all leather field boots.
