Work was.. you know, whatever. Who cares? After work, I stopped at Best Buy and picked up Doctor Who Series 3 on DVD! :D

That is probably the most I will ever spend on a single series of television... and only because there's no hope of the price going down later. Series 1 is still $90, which is crazy! Anyway. Series 3!! WoohoooO! The really sad part is, I've only seen the first episode and the last four of the season XD I haven't seen the slightest bit of anything in the middle. Oh well.

ETA: Well, frak me. Apparently there was some sort of gaff on the DVD set and the final episode does not have commentary with Freema Agyeman and John Barrowman like it says it does on the box art -- instead it's RTD, Julie Gardner and Phil Collinson. WTF? Now I'm kind of annoyed.

ETA2: I've emailed BBC America to ask them what's up, and have notified TVShowsOnDVD and Gord wrote back saying he'd look into it. *sigh* Why does my uber-expensive DVD set have to be so annoying?

While at the mall, I also meant to go get the new Winter bear from Build a Bear, but a) I left the coupon in my car and b) I figured I should save money to buy the gas I'll need to be getting tomorrow. Meh.

Just threw some more tracks on Spacemonkey (Zen Micro) 'cause I was getting sick of listening to the same 100 songs at work. Meh. I wish there were an easier way of editing the playlist rather than doing it manually on the device, but since I refuse to install Media Player 11, I guess I'm stuck.

In other geekery, I've added new ringtones to my phone: a MIDI of ELO's Mr. Blue Sky and an mp3 of the Torchwood theme :D

I wish I could get work at Warner Bros again. All of the DW seasons are $49.99 there. :( See? Perks come to those who work on the WB Lot. lol

I still have yet to buy S1, S2 or S3. Basically because I've been wanting to get them for $50 each instead.

Ha! Nice. :)

I think I paid $70 for S2, but S3 is on sale at Best Buy for $65, so I thought, what the heck.

This commentary snaffu has me a bit irked though. I love my commentaries and I want to hear Barrowman! Who cares about what RTD & co have to say? They're boring :-P

I'm behind 1000% for all things Barrowman. My John should be heard damn it!!

If you need any info on a monster they bring back in Gridlock, let me know. Its a random one. But one fo my faves.

I heart Barrowman. I'm still trying to find copies of "the Sound of Musicals" :\

Work blocks the LJ.. but if you look in the comments, [livejournal.com profile] eido linked an entry that speculates that some Bush bashing might have caused the last minute pull. No confirmation on if that's true or not.

Monster from "Gridlock"? Face of Boe or the Cat Nurses? :\

No the crab-like Macra. lol

Is it the commentary track the BBC made available in MP3 originally that's missing?

From: [identity profile] amezri.livejournal.com
Oooooh! Hahah. I actually did see Gridlock :) I forgot about the Macra.

No, they recorded a new "Last of the Time Lords" commentary with David, Freema, and John for the DVDs, but for whatever reason on the Region 1 release, that's been replaced with the MP3 one that was posted to the BBC site (that one is with RTD, Julie Gardner and Phil Collinson).

bet I can get us the commentary for that ep from the R2 ones lol

In fact, now I have a reason to get the R2 set instead. lol

Heeee! I really want to hear it now. I'm hoping it'll show up on my flist at some point. I'm certainly in enough comms...

Yeah... I'm tempted. Because the Saxon cover is super awesome (more so than this embossed thing we got) and the promise of a proper commentary track... but I really, really can't justify $100+ for a DVD set I basically already own :\

I'll ask one of the peeps in the Doctor Who IRC channel I'm an op in to just grab the mp3 for me this week.

And I have ways around paying for the box.... *evil grin*

Awesome! :D I will be sure to let you know if I find a copy before you do.

Oooo.. sneaky ;P

Since the person's no-one you know, I'll tell the secret here.

There's this guy in Australia who has a mad crush on me and likes to just buy me DW DVDs when they come out there. If I do a post about the commentary track being different on the UK/OZ release than ours and how it sucks that I can't get the good one.... I guarantee I get it. Probably for Christmas.

And this boy stands no chance whatsoever with me. NONE.

I feel bad for taking advantage of it, but I've asked him not to just buy me DW on DVD. He doesn't stop no matter what. If you can't beat 'em....

HAH. Nice :-P

There's no confirmation yet as to what the commentary on the OZ set is. I don't think that set comes out until December 5.

He usually snags the UK ones from the import shop. lol

According to this post at the [livejournal.com profile] doctorwho comm, the David/Freema/Barrowman commentary on LOTTL was removed the last minute apparently due to them having a go at Bush. *sighs*

From: [identity profile] amezri.livejournal.com
WHHHHHAT?! OH COME ON. (And of course I can't read it right now what with work blocking LJ...) They could have just cut that part out of the commentary.

From: [identity profile] eido.livejournal.com
It was speculation on the poster's part, but that's the only reason s/he could think of for it being changed.

Without the David/Freema/Barrowman commentary? Pretty much gives me zero reason to sit through that ep again. It's also idiotic considering who would most folks, in a heartbeat, rather hear commentary from (despite any digs at the precious prez)? The stars of the show (and I do hear the commentary is hilarious *grumbles*) or Davies/Gardiner (No. Thanks.)? They're also idiots if they think we're not going to find a way to listen/watch that ep with the original comm... one way or another. They should have just kept it on there or yeah, edited.

If it's true? Lamest reason ever to pull a whole commentary.

Someone is probably ripping that commentary for us poor Region 1 people right now and I am so downloading it. I don't mind listening to RTD and Phil Collinson if there wasn't another commentary, but Julie Gardner is so horribly boring, I can't even stand it.

Honestly how bad could the dig have been? And if it were that bad, I definitely want to hear it :-P
