So... Moonlight premieres tonight on CBS. I'm only vaguely interested because Sophia Myles is in it and it's a vampire show. Veronica Mars fans will recognize Jason Dohring (whose father, apparently, is the chairman of Neopets XD) Except, um... does it seem a lot like Forever Knight to anyone else? Here's the show description:

Mick St. John (Alex O'Laughlin) is a captivating, charming - and immortal - private investigator from Los Angeles who defies the traditional norms of his vampire tendencies by using his wit and powerful supernatural abilities to help the humans others of his kind see only as nourishment. Forever 30 years of age, Mick's as handsome and charismatic as the day he was "turned," and with only a handful of like-minded confidantes for company, Mick fills his infinite days protecting the living.

Yeah...

I think I'd rather watch Doctor Who.

Oh yeah, if anyone cares, SGA premieres tonight at 10pm. I think I might just... not anymore. We'll see how I feel after I watch those season 3 DVDs. Maybe some of the behind the scenes featurettes will kick me back into the SGA love.

Hmm, someone commented to me yesterday about there being three new vampire shows out this year, and having been discussing Blood Ties and anticipating the Charlaine Harris series to hit HBO (though I don't know when), I wondered what the others were. I stuck it on my TV CAT filter, and since it comes on after the end of The Colbert Report and SGA comes on after it, maybe I'll spend a few hours hanging out in the living room watching those shows tonight. Because I need something to knit in front of anyway.

Charlaine Harris has a TV series? Better than Laurell K. Hamilton, I suppose. I wonder if that's why they're having her at ICON this year.

That TV CAT thing is interesting... I should look into it further.

I've been hearing about the Charlaine Harris series for months but don't know when it's out (though if I weren't lazy I'd hunt around on IMDb) -- it's for HBO or Showtime or some such IIRC.

Okay, not so lazy -- I searched on her name and turned up True Blood, which astonishes me with its casting of Anna Paquin as the lead character.

Anna as a Southern detective involved with local vampires. Hmmm....... I could be up for that.

Honestly, I kinda was more reminded of Angel. Actually, it reminded me of exactly like Angel. I mean, look at the descriptions. I won't spoil what I learned on the access shows on CBS, but I do know that I have no interest in watching Angel 2.0.

I'm going to watch the first episode of the season for SGA, just to see if I like where it's going. I'm on the fence. I like pretending seasons 2 and 3 mostly never happened. I'd keep about five of season 3, and about 2-4 on season 2. It was on a really, really long hiatus in my world.

Hm. I guess I could see Angel, too. Forever Knight was what hit me first.

Yeah, I lost my love for SGA last year and it's never really come back :\ So, we'll see.

P.I. in LA, who uses his vampire super powers to save the humans that his species discards like it's no big deal, has a core group of people, using wit to get out of situations, forever about 30...

So Angel. It's kinda sad, really. I showed a friend the info, and sad the same thing.

I kinda think I lost my love for it, but it wasn't the show so much as the fandom. The whole six months of nothing but wank (from the Freedom "gen" debate to the never ending race wank), I just can't get into it. Which is a pity.

Point. But also:

Vampire who is a PI in a modern city falls for a human girl who learns his secret and wants to help him. Throw in the vampire femme who's still causing him grief, as well as a family of vampires who has assimilated into the human world.

So yeah, I was thinking Forever Knight. Agree to seeing it differently? *shrug*

Do NOT mess with my Canuck television fandom.

Oh no....not like Forever Knight at all.......

Im fully expecting to see some female femme fatale vamp who used to be Mick's lover (bonus: she will run the local vampire hangout), and Mick's millenium old 'father' who he has a tense relationship with.

Nope, not FK at all. *eyeroll*

I'll watch an ep or two..just to see what its like.

AHAHAHA! How about his wife, who turned him? Played by Shannyn Sossamon.

Yeah, I'll check it out, just for Sophia, who I adore.

actually, we missed the most blatant psudeo reference. Mick...Nick. And he also drives a convertable. And lives in a posh loft. And VOICEOVERS. I mean....COME ON.

Seriously though, I watched the show. There were moments of cheese (Evanescence?!), but it was entertaining. And the guy from VM (blanking on his name), plays a great snarky character. Will probably watch again.

wierd...i didnt even recognize Shannyn. And I caught bits of A Knights tale on satellite this weekend too. Heh.

Forgot to mention, Sophia was awesome.

And aside, I could never get totally into Angel (bad fangirl!), because I viewed that as a small FK ripoff. But at least it wasnt as bad as the Masquarade show from the 90's. Which I know was based on the RPG...but STILL. (Wont get into that one here...)

You should never have gotten me started on this rant, you know. There's no way it will end well. XD
