I am such a looooooooooser. This is what happens when you people leave me at home to my own devices.

I... took like an hour and ran around playing dress-up and taking photos of myself in my costumes. You know it's really hard to take photos of yourself when you can't see the LCD? Yeah. So, sorry about the crap composition and I was too lazy to crop.

All the photos are here, or click the cut for a peek at a few.

Here's Alice's outfit from "Resident Evil." I wore it to the 2001 Brooklyn Farscape Con, where I met [livejournal.com profile] ozw for the first time, actually.

Next up is Sydney's outfit from "Almost Thirty Years," the season 1 finale. I pulled everything together in time for Halloween 2002. Bra and pants are from Lip Service (I should have gotten a size smaller.....), cuffs and neck piece from... gorilla leather? I can't remember. Fishnet top from eBay.

And now a crap load of Stargate costume photos....

Here's the Stargate chick outfit I wore to the 2006 Burbank Farscape Con.

And a variation with pants that I'm probably wearing to the Farpoint convention this year...

Standard navy Garrison BDUs, screen accurate. Wore these at ICON 24 & 25.

Okay, yeah, you can all point and laugh at the geek now.

LOL Thanks ^^ Well, it helps that everything is purchased and I didn't really have to sew anything :x

Are you kidding...I wish I had your passion!

I was considering doing some costumes at some point. Some of my friends think I'd look really good as a B5 Ranger, or even an Earthforce officer. Others even suggested that I should try Anakin's Jedi Robes, or even a Starfleet Captain's White Dress Uniform from Insurrection and Nemesis. And even I was seriously considering getting a Black SG-1 or a Red Atlantis outfit, sans all the hardware. But after seeing so many costumes on the internet and in person, I honestly don't even know if I'm capable of being in anyone's league. The closest I can get is the Tenth Doctor, since it seems to be the most practical, but that's about it. That, and I don't attend enough conventions to make such a purchase warranted.

So I'll just admire your work (and others) and be content with that.

Well, these costumes are mostly due to laziness because I can't sew, so I find costumes I can do just by buying things :x Which makes Stargate sort of perfect as most everything is standard issue.

I didn't used to go to that many cons, but once you start costuming and making friends, you end up going more often. :D

Feel free to point and laugh at me when I post my Dragon*Con photos in September, since I'm working up the costume as shown in my icon as well as bringing my Frodo and pirate costumes again. And probably rewearing the Ravenclaw student uniform I'm working up for Phoenix Rising, as well.

Forgot to add, the Alice outfit looks better on you than on Milla Jovovich, and I like the olive drab Stargate outfit with the pants better than the short skirt. Looks more military that way.

Oh, wow, thanks ^^;

I think I'm going to go with the pants for Farpoint since they'd be way more comfortable. The skirt was because.. well.. the other girls in the group wanted more "girly" sort of costumes over the frumpy BDUs. Heh.

Heh, I think I was about to say something snarky about the idea that even in situations where practical clothing would be a requirement it's more important for women to be pre-e-e-etty than competent or comfortable. And then I remembered the time I'd showed someone who didn't yet know me that well the pictures of myself in my Frodo costume at a Halloween party and she expressed astonishment at me doing a drag outfit because she said I was always dressed in such a "feminine" way. Because up till that point she hadn't been around me much outside the annual party and didn't know how I usually dress -- but when it was a fancy occasion, there I'd be wearing something pre-e-e-etty.

Ah, well. Meanwhile I hunt eBay for the bits for my latest costume inspiration -- a green fairy for the Phoenix Rising masquerade. Pretty, and yet part of the reason I decided on it was going for the Amy Brown look and being able to wear striped stockings and steel-toed boots instead of fancy shoes.

Well, pretty is good, but the con days are long and I'd rather be comfortable XD Especially if it's February in Maryland.. I don't expect it to be too warm :-P

Yeah, I've usually got the opposite problem -- as I recall, the one time before I was at DragonCon, it was pretty hot, and I expect the same for NOLA at the end of May. So I have to trust in Southern AC at DragonCon when I'm running around wearing an oversized coat as Romana, and I'm not even bothering with the sweater that's supposed to go with my Ravenclaw uniform. (Actually, I'm looking forward to going with the "disaffected student" look, on at least one day leaving my nose ring in and wearing steel-toed boots instead of mary janes and having my tie loose.
