prestige, 6-word scifi; con
Oct. 26th, 2006 10:38 pmI just got back from seeing The Prestige with
tiscbh28, Annalisa & Eric,
punslingerr,
sweetwildandmad and
katkel. It was... totally awesome. Like... I can't even talk about it here because I know some of you are going to click the cut and read all about it and I just can't be the one to spoil because you really, really need to go see it. Yeah. That was fraking awesome. I would totally see it again.
Why didn't anyone tell me Andy Serkis and David Bowie were in The Prestige, hm?
This morning,
thebigfatman linked me to a Wired feature about Very Short Stories, wherein published authors wrote 6-word stories. I think it was supposed to be scifi, but some other stuff slipped in. Here are a few of my favorites:
Gown removed carelessly. Head, less so. -- Joss Whedon
Machine. Unexpectedly, I'd invented a time -- Alan Moore
"Cellar?" "Gate to, uh ... hell, actually." -- Ronald D. Moore
It's behind you! Hurry before it -- Rockne S. O'Bannon
I couldn't think of anything sufficiently clever to write. So.... you all have at it.
Okay, I am now slightly disgruntled having just learned that Joe Flanigan and Jason Momoa are going to be at the Jersey con I bailed on due to various debacles and politiking. Don't get me wrong, I am still super excited about meeting
athenaktt, going to Burbank, seeing Signal Room, and meeting Stephen (and perhaps seeing Ben), but yeah. WTF, Creation. WTF. Of course, because of the debacle, it's not like I would have been able to get in on the cheap and I likely wouldn't have purchased autograph thingies anyway. Except for the part where I've just spent twice that amount going to Burbank for the weekend instead. So. Yeah. *convinces*

Date: 2006-10-27 03:15 am (UTC)2) Ugh. Creation can't get anything straight. I understand that actors' schedules and stuff can't be controlled exactly, but. Argh.

Date: 2006-10-27 03:18 am (UTC)2. I'm so glad I've never done a Creation Con. Go me! I just can't see paying a small fortune to them with their assbackwards planning skills.
