Work today was weird. Went quickly though, so that was good. I went in early to make up time because I needed to go pick up my night guard at the dentist. Which took way the hell too long, but still less time than I budgeted, so I ended up leaving work early. Which was good, because I wanted to run home to grab some stuff for the Rasputina show. But more on that later.

After work, a bunch of us met up at Emperor's for dinner. Great food. Low price. Good company. I think we all agreed to do it again. :D

So. Yeah. Pretty much by accident, I found out that Rasputina was playing at the WAMC Linda Norris Auditorium tonight. I of course immediately got all excited because I hadn't heard of them coming to Albany before and [livejournal.com profile] hostile17girl had at one point been telling me to go to Boston to see them, which would have if Boston wasn't so. far. Anyway. There were still tickets available so, yeah. Totally went. [livejournal.com profile] sweetwildandmad came with. Actually, he found the listing in the Metroland. Heh.

The venue is really nice and is in a good location. I have thought of somehow getting Tom McRae here. Hmmm... Anyway, the station was recording the recital, so perhaps there will be a CD? That's what one of the technicians seemed to indicate as they were packing up, anyway.

I'm a really bad fan and can't remember verything they played, but it was a nice mix of stuff from all of the CDs and, well, a lot of what's on the Radical Recital disc, which is cool, because I loved all that stuff. I did try to record the show, but my internal mic is so crap and I haven't been able to get a line in mic for it, so there is a hell of a lot of noise that I'm sure can't be cleaned out ([livejournal.com profile] lilorphanannie? actually, it's probably unsalvagable.) I took a few photos, but they were all crap and I didn't feel like playing with the settings.

After the show, I went to the merch table and picked up a copy of Radical Recital as I didn't own it yet as well as a copy of Ryan Obermeyer's book. I got the book signed by Jonathon, but missed.. uhm.. I think it was Sarah Bowman. Melora wasn't coming out as I heard someone say she had poison ivy, but I don't know how true that is.

In any case, my first Rasputina show was an entirely fabulous time and if they come back up here, I will definitely be willing to go again!

Yeah, Sarah Bowman played with them. Wheee, I'm glad you enjoyed the show! Melora always comes out eventually but I know not everyone is prepared to stand around and wait just for a chance to chat. I bet they played some songs from the new album that's going to come out next spring. I'm very jealous of you, even if you can't remember the set list. ;D

Ahh... see, had I known that Melora would come out eventually, I would have waited longer. As it was, it looked like most of the crew was leaving, so I figured it was time to go. Next time I'll know -- then I can get my Thanks for the Ether CD signed!

PS - Jealous of me?! How many shows have you been to, my dear ;) They probably recognize you by sight! XD

Ummmmmm, 15. Jonathon introduced me to Sarah Bowman as "his really good friend" and my dad's met Melora's mom at a show I wasn't even at. I guess that's what seeing them 15 times has gotten me. Anyway, I'm jealous of you because you've probably heard songs that I haven't and you got a full setlist [I saw them open for Les Claypool so the set was shortened.]

Heee! I am a tad jealous of you really :D You are a name to be dropped at a Rasp show! I think that's pretty cool, actually :)

Welllll... I can send you the really crappy recording I made but as far as I can tell, most eveything was previously recorded stuff. There might have been one or two that were new? :\

Hey... you know that comment I made about how many shows you've been to was all in jest, right? I mean, I think it's really cool you've seen them so many times and are friends with them :)

I just realized what I said could have been taken the wrong way...

Anyway. When I get home tonight I will try and work out a set list from my terrible recording ^^
