new art: atropos ii

More Three Fates art. Clearly still infecting my brain.

This is Atropos II, named for the Fate (or Moirae) who cut the thread of one's life.

Yeah, I know I'd already made an Atropos image, but frankly I hate it (even though people seem to like it well enough) and I wanted the three images of the Fates to be more related. So this one, like Clotho, includes the image of a figure.

It's as done as I think it can be, though I have yet to run it past Mike. However, I've been sitting on it for about a week or so and there's a point where it really is just done and you have to quit fiddling with it. So. Yeah.

I like the torn look to it, and the repeated use of the figure from Clotho, and the texture in the upper right corner. Is the face of the figure superimposed in there (looking like it has a huge nostil)? Or am I finding shapes in clouds of color again?

Well, it's a similar figure, but not the same one - here I've used a reclining woman. Of course, feel free to see whatever you want as the figure is extremely distored, which is how I like it :)

Ya know, I really do like the first Atropos. Sure it doesn't go with this series, but I like it as the end of the universe. Perhaps it should be Atropos in that sense, if not in the much more open and complicated way that is the rest of the story?

I like the bands of yellow - texture, cloth, bindings and all the associations that go along with them being across a body. Works with the idea of Atropos being the cutter and ender.

I think the reason I hate the first Atropos so much is that it's not really typical of the style that I have. And it feels a bit too much like "my first photoshop project." But... I guess I don't hate it so much that I will deny it's creation and existance. Heh. I am glad that other people such as yourself enjoy it.

Thanks again for the feedback on "Atropos II." That's exactly what I was going for -- the ripping and cutting.
