Out of curiosity has anyone ever used Gmail Chat? (not Google Talk) It seems sort of interesting -- IM from a browser window and no software to download. Sort of like AIM express, but attched to your address book and it saves your chats, I guess. Anyone with gmail want to try it out? My username there is the same as here.

I though, last night, that I'd need to buy more velcro for my SGC BDUs, but I found the extras I'd bought before. Yay. Now I just have to remember where I put my canon SG-2 patches...

Hrm. It is, I suppose, time to get ready for the job. Exciting. Two more days!!

I use Gmail Chat pretty much full-time now. I like that it's inside my email window, so I don't have to worry so much at work, and once I got used to some of the features (smileys, formatting, etc), I liked it better than AIM. And yeah, you can set it to save transcripts right in your gmail account, which is cool for me, because I never remember to save chats before I close the window.

Also, I've used the independent version, which requires a separate download, and it's awesome, because you can set it to notify you when you get an email, and the phone feature works well.

Thanks for the info!

I just tried it out with someone. It's veeery interesting. Wish I'd known about it before for those days I was stuck in the shop all by myself.

Gonna look into the independant chat program, but I don't know if I could abandon AIM yet. I'm so attached to the thing it's sad.

I like it, to an extent. It's excellent for stealth, but not so great if you're actively talking to someone, as it doesn't really notify you (your gmail tab will say "Name" says..., but that's about it.

Yeah, it's a very good stealthy at-work sort of thing to use. Hopefully I can use it at the new job. Heh.

I'm trying Gmail Chat with bethy. I LOVE IT OMG. Especially since they go through and disable the chat software for HR all the time and I'm considered part of HR.

It's a pretty cool stealthy thing. I don't think I'll switch over completely, but I like the idea :)

I use gmail chat. It's handy; you can keep it in the browser, or pop the little chatbit out if you want to.
