Work today was pretty blah. Didn't do much all day. Had my aunt call me part way through, but thankfully, I ditched her when I told ehr I was at work.

Came home. Found a postcard from [livejournal.com profile] shingkhor in the mailbox. Thank you! I hope you have a good trip home.

Skimmed through the f-list, but I'm not really of the mind to respond, so I'll have to go through it again later.

For anyone who ever wondered what it's like being criticized and yelled at by a Chinese grandmother, I made a recording of the message she left on the machine last night. I'm not going to translate (though I know a couple of you will be able to understand it).

Shortly after I got home, my aunt called. I was expecting her to yell, too, but instead she asked about how I was doing and again started on the "open a window" method of diagnosis. I just told her that they already tested me for whatever and then she turns all concerned and asking me what she could do for me. It was weird, yo. And then she asked me about my brother and said that it was okay for him to change majors to English because it's harder for computer science majors to find jobs now. I think it wasn't really my aunt that called - it was a pod person!

Then my grandmother called again. Twice. We just pretended we weren't here.

And a selfish request, buried in the post, because I'm feeling crappy and I want something: If any of you meet any of the Stargate Atlantis main cast, I demand (oh, lookit me making demands) that you ask if they received my prints and artbooks. Because I'm dying of curiosity, yo. I sent them out almost 5 months ago. Which is really not that long of a time considering how busy they are and the amount of fanmail they probably get. But still.

I think I'm going to upgrade the globat accounts for both eternalvox and tominationmedia. Which means I can throw more downloadables up! And in the case of eternalvox, I can poke around for more hostees.

Why are people on my f-list posting in binary and hex? It hurts my brain. Someone point me to an online translator :-P

[livejournal.com profile] queenmaab - Matt can't make the Oct 1 Serenity gathering either, so he wants to come along when you and I go :)

Might make a new icon. Might go veg out. It's SG-1 Monday, but I can't remember what season they're on so I don't know if I can be bothered to watch it.

Heh, if it's anything like getting ranted at by a Chinese mother I've already heard it. Repeatedly. My sophomore roommate had grown up in Texas but her family was from Taiwan, so she spoke English with a Texas accent but Mandarin Chinese with her family -- which meant that I developed the habit of answering the phone with, "Pei-Ling isn't here!" because her mother couldn't tell our voices apart when we said "Hello" and that would be the only word I'd have time to get out if it was my roomie's mother on the phone.

Oh yeah. All Chinese women ranting and yelling sound pretty much the same. LOL
