The new Press section on Tom's site cracks me up. Of particular note (emphasis mine):

To this day, however, many are still unaware that Tom has released three records, but such is the nature of signing a world-wide deal with a major label who then fail to release said record around the world. He is apparently not bitter.

remember when research used to be difficult and take time? No, thought not.

He still thinks there is an audience for music that doesn't sound like Colpdplaythletekeane, or Gem. Although he is probably mistaken.

There are many differences between Daniel [Beddingfield] and Tom, but the most notable is that people at Ocean Way seemed not to hate Tom and wish everyday for his imminent departure. Allegedly.

This bit should contain the good review(s) from the last few weeks but the lazy assholes at Sony/BMG haven't bothered to send them over..

And then there's the section about repetitive interviewer questions:

Try and listen to at least one of tom's records before the interview, this is not always possible, so ask a friend if they have heard it and adopt their position. If you don't have a friend then just assume you love the music as it is clearly meant for people like you.

If you feel the need to draw comparisons to Tom's music for the sake of journalistic short-hand description (and boy those deadlines come round quick, don't they?), then the current clichés refer to variously Nick Drake, Damien Rice, David Gray, Enya, and most recently Mike and the Mechanics. Again listening to the actual records may be a help in this instance.

His name is also spelled McRae. (*snort*)

Also, phrases such as "best-kept secret" or "lost superstar" may be useful to you. As may the statement "who the hell is Tom McRae - and why won't he go away?"
