work; best buy; jackhole
Jan. 4th, 2005 07:01 pmWork was all right. Boss didn't come in as she'd hurt her back. Bummer. Finished a few things that needed to get done.. didn't do some others that needed doing. *shrug* I redid the concourse case, though... that was productive. Left work mostly on time and ran into my old Digital Photo professor downstairs. Weird. Charlie was dropping off some relatives at the airport and we had a quick chat before we both had to go. I gave him the address for my photo site, so I hope he has something good to say about those.
After work, I went to Best Buy to snag a copy of "Troy"... which I wasn't going to do, except Best Buy was offering the special limited bonus disk which included cast commentaries or something. I'm a bonus feature whore, so, you know, I had to get it. Picked up a nifty X-Men calendar for half off at one of those stands in the mall. Saw Matt C. in some sporting goods store that was going out of business. Told him to come find me at the airport and maybe we can see about finding him a job there. Heh.
Came home and discovered that the jackhole was back. His redneck carnie friend is here, too, so now I'm parked at the very bottom of my own gorram driveway. Walking into the house, he and his friend are laughing their heads off and having a great time in the basement office. Upstairs, no lights are on and the blinds are all open. I'm certainly not surprised that the dogs haven't been let out all day. Jackhole had gotten the mail, which always makes me wonder what mail we actually got, since he throws about 80% of it away before anyone else can get to it.
Called mom and found out that RJD (furnace people) came and tried to clean the furnace. Uhm.. tried because the thing is so rusted out that they declared it a hazard and says that it's leaking carbon monoxide into the house. In fact, if it wasn't the middle of winter, they'd report it to Niagra Mohawk (power company). The guy stressed repeatedly that if we have to use it, to crack a window or something and that it needs to be replaced asap. My father hears this and starts yelling about how it's all this money and he doesn't want to get it replaced and it hasn't killed us yet. Nice. There were more arguements over money and some other bullshit. Jackhole doesn't want to get the ducts cleaned because... our house is dirty. Okay, there are a few unorganized rooms, but our house is not "dirty" and the ducts haven't been cleaned in 15+ years, so I think once might be a good idea.
Right now, he's down there poking around the old furnace and lines. Mom thinks jackhole and redneck are going to try to install a new gas furnace by themselves. That big boom you hear will be a gasline explosion.
On the bright side, I found this message hidden in the depths of aim.com while I was trying to find that support contact again: If you recently began receiving an error message indicating that your sign on has been blocked because your account has been suspended, please be patient as we restore the accounts over the next several days. We apologize for the inconvenience. Dated December 10. So... in AIM terms, a few days might be a few weeks or months, right?
At least the new Signal Room CD is good.
