Has anyone read any books by Kelley Armstrong? She's very LKH-like, but still uses an editor XD She currently has two series - one about werewolf Elena Michaels and another about witch Paige Winterbourne. I've read the prologues she has up at her site and they seem interesting. She also has online novellas, which are prequels to Bitten. The latest novella, "Beginnings," comes with a nice warning page about mature content and it being a first draft. I've read the first chapter and let me tell you, if this is her first draft? It ain't bad.

SciFi Wire has some interesting news bits this week:

+ Elektra goes dark, but stops to save a little girl and Goran Visnjic while being chased by Will Yun Lee.
+ Joss Whedon attended a John Kerry fundraising event with other Buffy/Angel/Firefly cast and told fans that he would not be directing the next X-Men movie.
+ Live-action, martial arts version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Ponder.
+ Nicole Kidman & Will Ferrell star in Bewitched, based on the 60's series.
+ Remember that weird haunted box that some guy was trying to sell on eBay earlier this year? Well, Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures turning it into a movie: Dibbuk Box.
+ Platinum Comics is looking for new comic submissions. So, you know, if you draw comics, go submit something.
+ Tru Calling really was cancelled... that sucks.
+ No more Mutant Enemy productions :(
+ Uhm... Amy Acker is 7 months pregnant o_O And she never auditioned for the part of Lois Lane.

Meh. Gotta get ready for work. This time last year? I was all psyched about going to New Zealand. *sigh*

Armstrong's books are excellent. And actually, they are all part of one series; Bitten and Stolen do deal with the werewolf Elena Michaels, but Paige Winterbourne is introduced in Stolen. And Elena does show up a little in Dime Store Magic and Industrial Magic. And Eve, who I think will be the main character of the next one, Haunted, is first introduced in Stolen, as well, and plays a part in Industrial Magic. So it's all the same series, just focusing on different people at different times, and that's actually a very interesting format. I really like the series as a whole, though I originally preferred the stories that dealt with Elena. On a second read through, though, I'm liking Paige's stories even more than I did the first time.

And they are much better than LKH or Anne Rice, thank god.

Yes, I've read Bitten now, and I'm going to go get Stolen. It's kinda like LKH, back when LKH was decent. And if LKH hadn't gotten all of her ideas from a bad World of Darkness LARP gone wrong.

i read Bitten & Stolen, and haven't gotten to the others yet, but i like Kelley better than LKH. i tried to read LKH and i guess it wasn't "secretive" enough with the fantasical creatures bit...i dunno, that's the only way i can say it.

but Bitten is fabulous, and when i get a chance, her online novellas are muchly fun as well. i just hope that they eventually get into print, because staring at the computer screen makes my eyes go wonky...

definitely recommend her :)

::ponders:: that's...weird...

+ Nicole Kidman & Will Ferrell star in Bewitched, based on the 60's series.

::tries to picture Will Ferrell as Samantha's hubbie:: that's really strange, too. but I can see Nicole as a witch, since i loved Practical Magic :)

YES! i remember that! freaky!!! O.o

+ Tru Calling really was cancelled... that sucks.
