I read about 6 chapters last night. It hurt my brain trying to ignore some of the really bad grammar. And since when does Anita say things like, "that is so not my thing". Liek, omgee!! Ugh. There were several misplaces words. I know LKH has an editor, but I don't know if that editor actually subjects their brain to the stuff long enough to do actual editing.

Need an icon with a picture of Anita that reads, "slut bomb." Or possibly, "ho bag."

I don't really hate the book. I'm just annoyed because this is not the series I started reading five or six years ago. At the moment, I'm just sticking around out of perverse loyalty... like Buffy season 7. It was painful, but I was hoping the end would make up for it all. I was sort of wrong...

Hrm.

But episode 4 of season 7 was THE BESTEST EVAH AYAYAYAYAY!

Or maybe that's just my inner Anya Fangirl.

C'mon. Season 7 was worth sticking around for just for all the Anya and Andrew. *g* Luuurve them.

I've had it pointed out to me that the last few Anita Blake books have been after LKH got a whole new fanbase who were there for the smut, and the publishers have been egging her on to emphasize that because it's selling so well. (Which is why they came out in hardback first.)

And LKH has gone the way of Stephen King, Anne Rice and JK Rowling -- selling so well she doesn't get much in the way of editing, because the publishers assume she knows how to write now or because they're in a hurry to get that book on the shelves or because they don't want to piss off such a successful cash cow.
