Dear Roadrunner,

I hate you. Thank you for making me sit in the basement for hours to watch the blinking lights on my cable modem. What a fantastic solution. Also, go ahead, blame my wireless router. It is clear that you have no idea what I'm talking about because I told you that I was not losing a router signal, but you're telling me that there could be something wrong with my router, causing it to power down. If it powered down, I wouldn't have a bloody signal, now would I?!

So I'm sitting here watching the light. What the bloody fuck am I supposed to be watching for anyway? The drop outs last about 30 seconds to a minute. The one blinking light? Not so helpful. Stop blaming my router you ass. I'm giving up this post in about 20 minutes.

No love,
Me

Now, I also need to install Service Pack 1 on this machine because I didn't realize it never got done. Thanks. After hunting it down, I've finally found it. Will have to run an anti-virus. Whee. *headdesk*

You can bypass that part if you connect directly to the modem to reproduce the problem. Rule it out before they get to it so that they can't just pass the buck.

The only problem is that my machine is upstairs, which is why it's on wireless. The machine downstairs freezes every 5 minutes, so that's not really a good one to compare with. There might be a physical cable issue - we've had some idiots working on our window trim. I'll go out and check the line in a bit.
