How liberal is Kerry; US aid in Iraq
Sep. 9th, 2004 11:22 amThis is a reply I left
crzydemona, but was actually interesting (and a bitch to research) so I figured I'd post it to my own LJ as well.
I had made a comment about how Kerry is actually more to the right of Kennedy and Jen asked to see the senate votes. Uhm.. I would... but I seriously don't have enough time in the day to wade through all those bullfrell issues like helping the catfish market (??!!). No, really.. if you take a look at the Senate records there are like hundreds of votes.
Here's the article I read by Northwestern Professor, Jeffrey Jenkins.
Criticism of above article and a rebuttal. And another: How Conservative is Bush? How Liberal is Kerry?
The Poole Nominate Data for the 107th Senate. With a rank of 1 being most liberal and 102 being most conservative, Ted Kennedy ranks 8 while Kerry ranks 27. Edwards ranks 38.
You can also view the Senate record of all role calls, issues, and votes here.
And another point that came up: let's not forget that the Mujahideen were trained and funded by the CIA between 1985 and 1992. We also aided Saddam and the Iraqi army against Iran. So we're not blameless.
I think that was fairly productive :) Going to go get breakfast now.
