Yay, LJ is back!!

After a rather *ahem* enlightening day at work, Quia, Michelle and I went to see Spider-Man 2. Wheeee! Of course, I had to stop at Best Buy and pick up the Maroon 5 acoustic album.. *cough*

SPOILERS FOR SPIDER-MAN 2

Wow. Loved it. Okay, so this is all going to be random and out of order and I'm hungry and this will make no sense. First let me talk about the cameos:
  • Bruce Campbell. As much as I was amused by the loud ring announcer, this was vastly superior. Extended screen time. Face time! We love the Bruce, yes we doooo.

  • Hal Sparks. Great elevator cameo. Spidey, that was too much damn information. We don't need to know where that costume is tight. Eep.

  • Daniel Dae Kim. Nothing really. I was just amused.

  • Ted Raimi. He's a Spidey staple, really. We love Ted. Go, Ted!

  • Willem Dafoe. Sweeet.

Oh. Best opening sequence ever. Call backs to the last film, while reintroducing characters and providing some lovely art. Very classy and smart. Go, design team!

So many scenes in this movie shouted SAM!! The scene where Doc Oc destroys the operating room and kills all those doctors? Very Evil Dead. Much chainsaw action. I dug it. Sam was probably given more liberty with the film after the success of the first film. I approve.

"Hey, Spider-Man stole that guy's pizza!"

Like the first movie, this one was funny, serious, geek-worthy, action-packed, and other fun descriptive words. Enjoyed all the funny muchly, and for some reason particularly the bit where he tried to jump off the building, but bounced off some walls and hit a car before stumbling away with a pained, "my back..." Heh. It's only funny because he's not dead. And of course, when he saves MJ at the end and he goes, "This is really heavy." *snerk*

Of course, can't forget the whole "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head" cheesfest. I loved it XD And that cheese-tastic freeze frame after Dr. Connors (Lizard!) talked to him. Uhm, yeah. I need to see that again.

Throwing in the standard "NY Loves Spidey" scene, we've got the train scene where all the people are grateful to Spidey for saving them and they promise not to reveal his identity. Awwws. Then Doc Oc comes in to rip him a new one and people step up to defend him - though some of them looked like they wanted to just take that step back. Nice sentiment, though. I kind of liked the whole average joe defending the hero sort of thing.

Oh. What was this? Spider-Man 2: We all know who he is!!?? First, you have Peter running around int he spidey suit with out the mask on. Then you have him reveling himself to all the train people.. and then Harry, Dr. Octavius, and MJ. Damn. Is there anyone left who doesn't know??! *snerk*

MJ running out on JJ's son? Love it. To Peter's apartment to satisfy her kink? Uh huh. But how pissed did she look when he left to go save whoever? Don't be regretting that now, girl.

Looks like we're getting Hobgoblin in Spidey 3. Ahhh, complications.

Once again, the people at Sony did a fine job animating and rendering all the Spidey web slinging scenes. Yummy. And I'm not really a Tobey fan, but, YAY TOBEY! And.. meh, Kirstin. I'm disliking her more and more in every movie I see. I don't know why.

It's okay. I only like the acoustic versions of "Harder to Breathe" and "This Love." "If I Fell" sounds really off tune. If you can find it bootleg, go for that :-P

I watched this yesterday evening... and I really loved it. I actually didn't like the first all that much, but this one was an improvement all around and then some. Alfred Molina was teh KeWl!!!1111 as Doc Ock. Anyone who can take the hits from a guy who can stop an out of control speeding train deserves some props. You felt sorry for him, but he was scary too. Awesomeness.

Looks like we're getting Hobgoblin in Spidey 3. Ahhh, complications.

And I see Doc Connors got some lines in this movie. Unless they save him for Spidey 4, Spidey is going to be busy in the next movie.

Maybe it's just my paranoia... but did anyone think something was odd about Peter's landlord's daughter? That mousy, skinny girl. It could be just my crazy, but methinks we haven't seen the last of her. I also heard a rumor Black Cat *almost* made it in this movie, but she ultimately didn't work in the story. Spidey 3 perhaps?

Wow. Okay, I just realized over half of my entry didn't show because I forgot a ". Argh.

I think the first is still my favorite, but I probably need to go back and see it again.

Very. She was... kind of tweaky. Maybe she was supposed to be Black Cat, but since there wasn't time, that's what they did with her.. for now. Black Cat was one of my early favorites, so it would have been great to see her. I understand why it wouldn't have worked with the story though.

Spidey 4 is going to be packed if they try to throw in Hobgoblin, Lizard, and Black Cat. Maybe they need another hour. Hehehe.

What I really want to see is a Spider-Man/X-Men crossover movie.

My money is on Black Cat or maybe Spider-Girl depending on how crazy Sony wants to get with the CGI budget.

Hell. I'd sit through another hour. If for anything to stare at James Franco's pretty a little longer. I forget how totally hawt Harry is... even if he's gone a little batshit. ;)

Dude. Wouldn't we all? But with Spidey at Sony and X-Men at Fox? Fox could be generous (give or take a few million) and give the X up to Sony ... but they're not that generous. It would certainly make sense though. They're all in New York. You'd think Xavier would toss Peter a bone from time to time. Here are the muties living in this posh mansion (barring the occasional green beret raid) and Peter is living in a basement. Sad. Just sad.

With J. Jonah Jameson's "Dr. Strange" quip, looks like the Human Torch or the Thing have a greater shot at a cameo in "Spidey 3". Meh.

Sony's would be more likely to attempt a joint venture than Fox. Fox are evil bastards :-P

Since Fox owns both X-Men and Fantastic Four movie right, there might be crossover potential there...

They also own "Daredevil", but that franchise is ruined as far as I'm concerned. Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin was cool, but Ben Affleck as Matt Murdoch? Just... no.

Agreed. Matt Damon is the action hero of that duo :-P

Jennifer Garner was decent as Elektra, though, so I'd like to see how that spin-off does.
