[livejournal.com profile] evemac! I've sent your SNL VCD out today ^_^ You should get it soonish.

While shelving books today, I saw the strangest word on the back of a book, written by the LA Times: unputdownable. ... It's actually in dictionary.com, but when the hell did "unputdownable" become a real word? Eesh. I fear the decline of American English.

Also discovered a relationship book titled Quirkyalone. Made note of it and searched it when I got home.

quirkyalone (kwur.kee.uh.lohn) n. adj.
A person who enjoys being single (but is not opposed to being in a relationship) and generally prefers to be alone rather than date for the sake of being in a couple. With unique traits and an optimistic spirit; a sensibility that transcends relationship status. Also adj. Of, relating to, or embodying quirkyalones.

Looks like there's a label for me now :-P I only wish it didn't sound so dorky.

And taking the quiz:

How quirkyalone are you?
Your score was 98. Very quirkyalone:
Relatives may give you quizzical looks, and so may friends, but you know in your heart of hearts that you are following your inner voice. Though you may not be romancing a single person, you are romancing the world. Celebrate your freedom on National Quirkyalone Day, February 14th!

Oh. And the muffler to the Bronco has become unattached and was dragging on the road as I drove home. [facepalm] Mom's gonna go with me later to see if they can fix it.

Hi! I come to your journal by way of [livejournal.com profile] corngirl_jo, who told me you would know how to make mini movie icons. What software to use, how it works, etc. I'm using photoshop 7 for icon making at the moment, but it doesn't do video captures. I have camtasia as a vid capture program, but I'm not sure if that will work for this, or how it all fits together.

And btw, love the lj layout. :) Wish I had the know how to make something like that.

Hey there! ^_^ I get all my screencaps from quicktim mov files - my dvd screencap program doesn't work.

It's sort of hard to explain and my best directions are in these two posts:

Hope that helps! ^_^

I've heard the term "quirkyalone" before, but never ran across a quiz for it. Got a score of 121, confirming what I already knew...

Strangely (or not) I think nearly all the people I talk to and get along with score pretty high on the quirkyalone scale..

Actually, I'm not that surprised -- obviously you'll have more in common with other independent-minded singles than in people who are doing couplesy stuff or who are obsessed with finding the Right Person. A few months back I saw a bit on Yahoo! headlines about a recent study that calculated that, between the shift to later average ages for first marriages and the high divorce rate, nowadays Americans are going to be spending more of their adult lives single than married or in a long-term relationship, rather than the old marry-young-and-stay-that-way pattern that assumed most people of a certain age were married. So there's an awful lot of us in this boat who might as well be reconciled to it.
