Tarzan premiere

Oh. I guess they decided to call it "Tarzan" and not "Tarzan and Jane" after all.
I like this show. And I'm glad I saw the unaired pilot because it's so much better then the cut one that was aired. First, they recast the little sister.. which I am sort of okay with. The original was more interesting, though. Second - they cut out some good shots of Tarzan roaming New York, which makes sense if they needed to trim out 7 minutes. They cut a really interesting scene where Tarzan pauses in the street, sensing some kind of danger, but not knowing what. This is as Creel is walking below him in the sewer. Perfect "keen senses" establishing shot. They reshot the one where he escapes from Greystoke again and hear's the gunshot... this time Jane screams and there is more of a close up on Tarzan and some silly camera slow-mo effect.
The most noticeable were two of the last scenes.
+ Tarzan saves Jane at Creel's apartment. Obviously, he had to save her. That's not what I'm questioning. They cut out Jane's fight with Creel. Jane was kicking Creel's ass. Well, okay, not completely, but still - the girl had moves. What gives?! She's a cop. She should have had some basic hand-to-hand traning and that stuff should be in there.
+ Tarzan in Jane's apartment after the fire. They cut out the kiss!! Man. I liked the kiss :-P But I guess it sort of solved some of that UST too quickly. And there was too much window. I don't need be looking out that window for more than 2 seconds, really.
Travis Fimmel is pretty in some shots.. but not in others. So I can't decide if I like him or not. Love the way he moves though. Very fluid - great fight choreographers. Some of the shots this episode were a bit washed out, and I'm not sure if it's the DP's fault or the editor's. Someone needs to get their act together.
Music people: Hi. Be original. Don't pick songs that are like three years old. K? Thnx.
Is "to be continued" going to be at the end of every episode? Because it's not necessary. Oh, and whoever is doing titles... license some fonts! The CopperPlate or Arial or whatever you are using is boring and looks cheap.
The show is interesting. So hopefully next week will be better :-P Maybe there will be a workprint of that. Heh.
