What is with the Asian country obsession? Taiwan in season one and two and now Hong Kong. I say Japan for this season's finale. *g* But where should I start the actual review. Um...
Vaughn explains, very calmly, that there was a fire at her apartment and the remains they found matched her DNA. Oh, but Will's okay. Someone explain to me how the hell Will survived the fire when he was bleeding to death in the bathtub? But anyway, I did love the reaction shot of Vaughn sitting on the burned remains looking as crushed as anything. Crushed enough to quit the CIA and take up teaching (and what the hell would he teach??)... but not crushed enough to meet and marry some woman a year and a half later. Sydney saw Danny's physical body in the tub and she still didn't hook up with Vaughn for almost two years. Though, granted, there was that whole undercover thing for a season. Meh.
Vaughn: You were dead.
Sydney: And you got married?
Sydney beating the crap out of Vaughn demanding to know if he works for Sloane - classic Sydney gut reaction. Honestly, if you woke up and were told by your boyfriend, who is now married, that you've been dead for two years, would you believe him? Maybe. Maybe not if you're a spy - you'd probably kick ass and find out later. She takes out two more agents in the alleyway before Vaughn shoots her with a tranquilizer dart, not looking to broken up about. He's got that forehead wrinkled in concern, but it seemed to be more of a "I didn't really want to ever have to use a gun again," than "oh my god, I just have to take down my ex-girlfriend who I thought was dead for two years."
Go Dixon with the promotion! But it'll be weird not having him in the field - as little as he was last season. He was strange and detached, but could be expect as maybe he's not exactly sure who this woman is yet. Love the Weiss even more. He's all take-charge and field agent-y. Hellz yeah.
Read the spoilers, saw the picture, but the Spy!Daddy in jail scene was fantastic. I love that Syd went to see him just because she had to - not that she was going to place some kind of blame on him or whatever else. The beard scared the crap out of me though. Thank god they shaved it off. heh. He ended up in jail because he was working with Irina to try to find out what happened to Syd. Irina, btw, is the 6th most wanted person. Only 6th? Pfft. When Sydney tells Jack that Vaughn got married, he had the perfect amount of expression on his face. "He what?" He was shocked. He had a tiny bit of respect for Vaughn and now... he'd sooner shoot Vaughn in the face. "Michael Vaughn is just a boy who was never good enough for you."
Loved Marshall - just the right bit of geek and love: "I'm Marshall... Mar.. shall. I work with you." The poem he wrote her was cute: "I lost my keys. It's a metaphore." And Carrie's pregnant but doesn't want to get married... oy! Marshall being a dad is just so... weird.
The Covenant guys are sort of blase. I'm not sure what to think of them really. I guess they're not as threatening as we haven't heard anything about them except that they're after weapons plans.
Sloane is now a CIA consultant working at the World Health Organization saving kids and curing cancer. Anyone else find that a bit disturbing? I was sort of hoping Sydney was going to stab him, but.. oh well. Sloane is always steps ahead of everyone. Slippery weasel.
All that running around, stealing stuff and putting together this massive Rambaldi device and it delivers a one-word message. And apparently the message is "Peace." I think Sloane heard wrong and it's actually... uh.. "peas." Like "the world needs more peas," or "beware the vengeance of the peas." Yeah. Really.
Sydney always gets her way, doesn't she? This time, after screwing up the mission in france by pretending she had a clue what she was talking about, she gets back the stolen chip and storms into Dixon's office. Conveniently, Linsey is there and Syd takes out a bad-ass lighter and waves the chip at him. If he doesn't want her to destroy it, he'll get Spy!Daddy out of jail and back at the CIA. Dixon just stands there, slightly amused and not at all intending to stop her, so Lindsey agrees.
Spy!Daddy is back at the CIA and we have a nice Syd/Jack hug. Then the revelation! Jack knew Sydney was alive because of a video feed he found showing Sydney in a blond wig killing an ambassador. Speculation: Sydney spent two years as an agent for the Covenent and possibly was with the team leader she killed and got the chip from.
Syd/Vaughn have it out in the hallway that they always use (and I try to identify.. heh). Vaughn is super-calm and is there to.. I don't know.. apologize to Sydney or something. Sydney, stubborn as always, isn't going to take it and basically blows him off. Which I think if I were her I would have done the same because from her point of view it's only been a day and suddenly Vaughn is married and can't even tell her that he lost faith and moved on. Though even if he did tell her that, she'd likely go off on him anyway.
Totally random note I just thought of - at the end of "The Telling," Kendall answers the phone, but here they say Kendall isn't with the unit anymore. Hm. I want Kendall back. He was an ass, but not as much as this Lindsey guy.
I'm sure there is tons more, but my brain hurts.
High Points: Weiss! Marshall! Where was the Sark?! Sloane on the magazine was creepy.

I never thought I'd say that I want Kendall back. Lindsey is not only annoying, but he looks like a zombie.

But yes, where was Sark? Hrm.
Also, they say Kendall's not the director of their unit anymore. Could be he got promoted or transferred. Because they had him talking to Sydney, I'm going to guess he got promoted, and they didn't know who else to transfer her to. Just my two cents there.
Sloane creeped me out. Syd's right not to trust him, but not for the right reasons. She's being overly emotional, but we really don't have the whole story on Sloane.
I'm not fond of the Covenant yet, but it should be interesting to have bad guys who, presumably, aren't after a Rambaldi device. ;)
