Holy.. shit.. I just got my system down to 0% free memory. That takes some special work, eh? I was converting files with rawavrecorder while reading & replying to yahoo mail. Yeah, not such a good idea. The windows that opened didn't have a tool bar, the background on every page was black and the font in the address bar was bold arial. Windows and stuff would turn white, highlight on their own, and do other weird things.

I have to restart, but I have to wait for this file to finish >_< I wonder if this is the reason why I never converted them.

ahhh ram issues

I know them well ^_^

all of those lovely "special effects" you describe above...I remember days like that...many. heh. congratulations, you're a "power user" ^_^

one thing that might help and it sounds like bullshit but isnt (I thought it was bullshit till I read an article on it in a mag)...grab a copy of a program called "rambooster"....really. when you run it, it checks for RAM lost to leaky programs and terminated apps, etc etc etc....very handy. could help....

I've gotten it down to 0% before, but that was months ago.

I did that one day this weekend, when I had too many browser windows up and that one flash-heavy site and tried to pull up Photoshop and things just locked up and I had to start closing programs. Hardest with the browser because about four windows locked up completely but since I'd opened them by clicking through rather than separately I couldn't close them when they jammed up until I was ready to close the whole set.

I don't recall another time on Edward where I actually got that kind of a "not enough memory" error message...

Well.... I didn't get an error, per se. Everything was running really slow and things were starting to act weird, so I check the free memory. I was surprised I was able to restart normally rather than having everything lock up on me.
