Reading "When Hellmouths Collide" and I don't know when this was written, but Iolaus is telling Buffy about Dahak:

He scratched his head and shrugged, almost visibly throwing off the dark recollections. "So if you ever run into something that tries to drive somebody crazy by pretending to be a dead friend, says it's really evil and has been in the universe since the beginning of time, but it keeps changing its story as to what it actually is, then either runs away or accidentally kills itself when you confront it, be careful. Don't listen when it talks to you. Just put your fingers in your ears and hum or something."

Ah.. the weirdness that was s7 Buffy... If you liked Hercules, Xena, and Buffy, check out the fic. It's a good time.

Right. Off to read the sequel, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road."

"When Hellmouths Collide" has been around for years. I remember being given recs to it back in 1999 -- though I never got around to actually reading it myself, and so don't know if it was actually completed then or what, but I rather suspect it was finished well before S7 if there's been time for a sequel since then. The more so since the blasted thing is years old...

Well, yeah, it has been around for awhile, but that's what makes the connection so amusing. I watched Herc back in the day, so I know the Dahak storyline, but I'd forgotten all about it.

I just meant that s7 Buffy sounds a lot like the Dahak thing, or at least the way the fic authors put it.

Ah. Never watched Herc and not much Xena, so I pretty much missed any references to their continuity. (Which come to think of it is probably a large reason why I never read that story -- crossovers with a fandom you don't know have limited appeal.)

The Dahak arc in Nercules was actually pretty interesting.

I understand what you mean about the crossovers, though.
