Been at my mom's office since 8am. Not much to do here. I already looked through my other New Zealand guide book, but it wasn't too helpful. Meh. I thought I brought the Alias: Recruited novel with me, but I guess I left it at home. Didn't take the first Potter book, so I don't have that either >_< Spent the first 4 hours here sitting in a chair listening to Bowie on my discman and staring at the floor. Yay? Her office suffers from that weird thing that a lot of offices seem to - it's deadly hot outside, but like an icebox inside. I'm freezing in here.
It's frelling hot outside. 90 degrees or something today. Blech. Mom and I had lunch in the park. There was a nice breeze under the tree. Can't believe this, but I can't wait to go home. Next time I come I'm bringing sufficient amounts of things to do, that's for sure.
If my father doesn't hog the TV tonight, I'm gonna try to watch my Homicide DVDs. I can't even remember when I last saw the premiere episode.

Office work sucks anyway, especially if you have nothing productive to do. Internet is always an option...

Date: 2003-06-25 09:35 pm (UTC)The latter two-thirds of my eighth grade year I took a city bus to my mother's office every day after school and hung out in the unoccupied cubicle next to hers until it was time to go home. I loved it, largely due to the huge public library mere blocks from her office -- every week or so I'd swing by there on the way over, and then I'd happily read (or do my homework, if I had any that day) until the end of the working day.
As for the AC, that's a familiar complaint down here -- indoor icebox to counter the outdoor oven. It's particularly nasty for me right now because my car's AC is out, and I'm having to struggle to find a business casual compromise that won't have me dripping with sweat by the end of the drive or freezing my butt off at work.
The above complaints are why I carry a big backpack rather than a purse, since it has room for all the useful things I've learned to carry. Such as a book at all times (or two or three, if I'm very near the end of the current read or expect to get in a lot of reading time before my next chance to change out books at home), and a rolled-up flannel shirt to put on in case of AC chill.
