Angel, FHM, and randomness
May. 13th, 2003 04:17 amAngel's been renewed for season 5 and will remain at the Wednesday 9pm timeslot. James Marsters will be joining the cast (of course he will *snerk*) and other former-Buffy regualrs may guest.
Smallville is moving to Wednesdays @ 8pm.
I'm glad Angel's being renewed... and yet I'm not. *sigh* I don't think I care anymore. Unless Eliza will be on. I'd watch that. And Lilah. Lilah's cool.
This month's FHM magazine features Alyson Hannigan and Julie Benz. Must. Buy. Although.. those pictures of Alyson are scary o_O
And I hadn't heard this, but:
FHM: How did the first conversation with Sarah Michelle Gellar go after you found out she was putting a fork in Buffy?
Alyson: It wasn’t that big of a surprise, but finding out from a magazine article—that sucked. I’m really upset that that’s the way the cast and crew found out they would be unemployed.
FHM: Did Sarah apologize?
Alyson: No. She hasn’t said anything.
I must really be out of the loop to have not heard that one.
Alyson continues to amuse, though:
FHM: What celebrity was the biggest disappointment to meet?
Alyson: I’m a huge Tom Jones fan, and he was such a prick. He was waiting for his wife to get out of a store. Thinking he would be honored that someone my age even knew who the hell he was, I went up to him. He was like, “Yeah, uh-huh, whatever.” I thought, “You dick. Well, I’ll never throw my panties at you, asshole!” Going back to whose ass I want to kick: Tom Jones’s.
FHM: When is it appropriate to call a guy a bitch?
Alyson: Always.

Okay. time for bed. Got a final at 11am. *sigh* Then work. Blergh. Meeting with Thomas at 5pm about my portfolio. Cover letter? What cover letter? -_-;;

Date: 2003-05-13 08:24 am (UTC)Did you see the Michael Vartan in the convenience store one?!?
OHMYGOD.
Secondly: the Aly issue has been a hot button over at the smgboards for a bit - I know you don't like her. Secondly, the delay time between an interview being given and it being printed is usually sizeable - and the circumstances surrounding the interview are always different. Third - Joss is Alyson's boss, not Sarah. Then there are the Executive Producers -who could have easily taken a meeting to inform everyone, this is it, gang, we're ending this season. Also, there's the fact that the majority of them are adults, and while they might not be the best of friends anymore, they can talk to each other outside of shooting a scene. Sarah should/would have said goodbye to them at the end of the shooting, and in interviews prior to this season airing - Emma, Nick and Alyson all expressed belief in print that the seventh season would be the last, with Emma stating firmly it would be her last - so Sarah going to EW and saying she's quitting and the show as we know it (with Buffy) is over - shouldn't have been a surprise. Sarah's also said that the universe could and should go on without her, so Alyson, Nick or James (especially considering their respective fan bases) would have had a job regardless (look at Joss and the Firefly gang. He does take care of his actors.) Fourthly, Alyson's always been candid about certain issues with fellow actors to the print media - a while back, she confessed to a magazine that she didn't particularly like Julie Benz because she was allegedly unpleasant to her when they filmed the first season of Buffy. I'm sure both situations have cleared up since then.
Re: yeah. i know i'm a voice in the void...
Date: 2003-05-13 03:34 pm (UTC)You know I hate to argue with you about SMG - we've agreed to disagree. So I won't talk about her. It's hard to continue a show like Buffy (or Angel) if the lead, title character is gone. On shows like ER, CSI, and Law & Order, it's quite easy to switch people out because none of the character's names are the title of the show. Does that make sense? I'm just saying that while Sarah is saying the show can continue without her, that doesn't mean it's feasible. As for the Firefly example, yes, Joss is taking care of them (which is great), but they are no longer playing Firefly characters. If the remaining cast moved over to Angel, they also become dependant on David Boreanaz and his interest in continuing with the Angel character.
Also, I'm not sure how friendly the main cast members are with each other. Yes, they are adults, but they're also Hollywood actors. Egos balloon. Hell, I see the same thing here. I haven't talked to people I used to be friends with because they're assholes. I see them every day but other than basic hellos, I have no interest in talking to them. *shrug*
That was really a lot longer than I planned.... don't hate me! ^_^***

Date: 2003-05-13 09:13 am (UTC)and of course, as you know, i'm squeeing about james being there. i won't have to quit HIM cold turkey, either!! *phew*
as for smg, it sounds like she and the gang have not been communicating at all, lately. if you take what freddie said about her not saying that she didn't feel appreciated and stuff. and then this article with aly not knowing either. sounds like lots of unrest in the buffyverse. ahh well, if that is the case, tho, then maybe it really IS better that it end. *sigh*
