It's where they take an image an and place another over it and drop the transparency to.. I dunno.. 50% so they both show. It looks interesting on a large scale sometimes but icon size, it's a blurry mess.
I know someone out there is going to flame me now.

I'm just not finding a lot of value in these icons made because someone learned how to use a layer transparency. The worst thing is that everyone else is copying the first person who did it and now there are swarms of these buggers.
Okay, see, I like yours! because there's text. And clearly it's a ribbon, the flag, and the Two Towers. What I hate about those others is that it takes me 5 mintues to work out who is actually in the picture... and that is what hurts mine eyes.
i'm with you!! i think they tried to make it difficult on purpose, *just* to stump us!! but i finally figured it out, with the help of a friend. once you get used to it, it starts to get easier, tho. :) i too will help if you need it. :)
