Feb. 10th, 2002 06:15 pmGot back from "Yeomen of the Guard" a little bit ago. It was so much better than I thought it would be. Omri Schein was hysterical as Jack Point and Stefanie Fink was good as Phoebe Meryl. Andrew Smith is swoonable. Heh.
For those who know not what I'm talking about, here's a synopsis of this Gilbert & Sullivan operetta: The time: early 20th century. Colonel Fairfax, confined to the London Tower under sentence of death, is to be executed today. His cousin has falsely preferred a charge of sorcery against him in order to inherit the Colonel's fortune should the Colonel die unmarried. The Colonel, as well as some of his friends, each develop a scheme to thwart the unscrupulous cousin's plans, should the Colonel's reprieve not arrive in time.
It gets even more complicated from there, but it was pretty entertaining. Claire and Paul were part of the opera chorus, so they didn't actually get stage time. Lila was rockin as the Second Yeoman and Leonard Meryl. ^_^ We didn't stick around, so I didn't get a chance to say hi to Mai, who was the accompanist.
Oh, Claire said they had to stick to the schedule because the orchestra was on union time - meaning that after two and a half hours, they would just pack their shit up and go, nevermind whether the opera was done or not. o_O
Eeesh.. I have to go cook now. I'm scared. Er, or maybe that should read they should be scared. Heh.
