voltaire looking for shaders

ATTN Artists on my flist!

Voltaire is looking for shaders to help out on Deady 3. This is an unpaid interneship, but you will be getting professional credit. Shading is done in Photoshop and I'm pretty sure some of you on my list could handle it. (logansrogue!)

What I'm looking for:

I need artists with CRAZY Photoshop skills who can look
at examples of finished Deady comic book pages
and shade new pages in the same style.

THE PROCESS:

If you feel you have what it takes to do the job you will need to:

1) send me a link to somewhere online where I can see an example of your photoshop skills. Naturally, art that involves shading would be nice!

2) If I like what I see, I will send you one small panel as a try-out.

3) Upon approval of your shaded panel, I will begin to send you pages of DEADY 3 (one at a time) and then you too will join the ranks of the rest of the DEADY crew! In otherwords, you too will be CURSED with this HELL that we call "working in comics"! ; )

Am home. Was told, again, that all my tests were fine and in fact all my levels are above average so they don't know what the heck is wrong with me. Great. Lovely to hear. I told them whenelse was still wrong with me and I don't think they believed me. In any case, they did an EKG (which was normal) and tok blood for a Lyme test. Which I'm sure will be normal.

Argh. Whatthefuckever.

I'm going to go watch the Rising DVD and eat some lunch. Then I'll come back and answer comments and skim the flist.

rising dvd; news

Watched the commentary on "Rising." Should have kept a notepad with me. Joe said some funny things. He also said some things that made me go "bwah?" For instance, during the first half, he kept refering to David Hewlett (or maybe Rodney McKay?) as "David McKay." It was sort of odd. Maybe it's a set joke. *shrugs* Then while they were talking about the Wraith, he said Wicked Witch of the East and even though I can't stand the Wizard of Oz, my inner pop-culture geek screamed "omg, no!!" Unless he means the Wraith should be squshed by the Ancient's house or.. I don't know. Still... he's a dork and I love him XD

Joe also talked about how Atlantis was his first scifi show and the things they were having him use (sets, props, etc) looked sort of hokey at the time but looked really cool when it was done. And.... there was something else I don't remember.

I did love the fact that the commentary was more than just "oh, hey remember how..." and "this is the part where..." They actually talked about production things and I love when commentaries do that. There was also a couple amusing anecdotes and mentions of cut scenes. We better be getting bloopers in the box set because there are some good ones, I'm sure.

Overall, I can't say I'm disappointed with the disk even though I'm kicking myself a little bit for having paid more than I should have. I'm a commentary dork and I loved this one -- especially since I got to listen to Joe speak for nearly two hours. [/fangirl]

faculty/sga

So... I was watching "The Faculty" the other day. And it got me thinking how the movie would be different if it was John & Rodney instead of Zeke & Casey. John & Zeke both do that "I'm a genius, but I'm going to pretend I'm dumb" thing, but Zeke is the quiet AV geek while Rodney would be the obnoxious science geek.

Which would work, because while John is trying to save the world from fucking aliens (or "fuzzy aliens" if you see the cable version) with his powdered caffeine hack drug stash, Rodney would be there to help and provide snark instead of being the quiet one. There would be the option to keep Stan, Stokely and Delilah, but I think you could swap Stan for Ford, Stokes for Teyla, and Liz for Delilah.

Originally, I was thinking high school AU, but this would probably work if you assumed the alien somehow escaped Earth and made it to the Pegasus galaxy. Atlantis is set on a planet that's a big ol' ocean. If I could write fic, I would... Uhm.. anyone? cassiejamie? *g* Feel free to pass on this if it does nothing for you. It's just a silly thought.

And of course thinking about "The Faulty" makes me think about Vshendria's "Borderlines" which has a shiny new layout. Ooo... and a new chapter I haven't read. I do love me some Zeke/Casey.
