That's...absurd. Especially since the police ruled it was the other driver's fault. Did they issue a ticket to the other driver? I'd bring up the police report and cite that in your favor, and contact your own insurance company for back-up. Your insurance company should IN NO WAY have to pay for that malarkey. AND if your insurance company does pay for it, it's just like admitting fault and will jack up your premium.
That's what they do - they are unavailable 100% of the time because they know you'll either lawyer up and they can wash their hands of it or you'll get so depressed at the wacky insurance version of justice that maybe you'll give up. They don't WANT to fight with you. But, if you have the police report in your favor, there should be nothing they can do to put fault on you at all. They always go with the police report because it's the most unbiased opinion they can get (presumably - I'll leave me out of this because I'm putting faith in the cop who knew the other woman was a fucking moron.)
