My hair has grown out a lot since I got it colored last. Actually, it's been so long, I can't even remember when it was done.. .January or February? Anywho, wanted to recolor it because I'm probably not getting it cut again for another month or so. This morning I took a trip to Target, stared at the color aisle for awhile and picked up L'Oreal's Feria Power Reds in Blowout Burgundy.

This is my first real attempt to color hair on my own. Usually I ask someone to help since it's crazy layers and whatnot, but this time, I was just covering everything. Didn't make as much of a mess as I thought and it was pretty easy. Mostly. Before and after photos under the cut.

This is the before. I actually like this photo. Hm.

After! Hate the picture, but you can see the difference at least. I like it :)

It's possible that I'm slightly allergic to one of the components because I can't stop sneezing and my nose is running. The conditioner had some botanicals in it, so that could be it. Whatever. I'll get over it.

Time for lunch!

It's been a year since I last colored my hair, and I've been toying with the idea of redoing it. If I'd been doing any conventioning this fall (aside from FenCon, for which my Donna wig is on the way) I probably would have repeated last year's trim and blonding to allow for the Rose or Romana look -- I suspect I will next year for similar reasons.

Also, that second picture reminds me of something brilliant my sister used to do when she was working for Dad and he wouldn't let her do anything too exotic to her hair -- she dyed it about the brightest shade of auburn she could get from Clairol, and then on weekends would go on over the top of it with hot pink temporary dye to get a sort of radioactive cherry shade that looked really good. It had that whole multiple-subtle-shades thing going, like yours does in the second picture.

Cool :) Yeah, I thought about something brighter (one of the brands has a fuchsia), but I'm lazy and opted for something that was longer lasting.

That's what drove me nuts when I had blue hair -- the way it liked washing out, and rubbing off onto things around me the first week or two after a touchup, and the way it need touchups like every other weekend. I didn't at all like having black hair when I dyed over the blue, but it was such a relief to have hair color that I could just do once and then not worry about until I got completely sick of it. I just wish more of the really exotic colors were available as permanent dyes -- I didn't like black and I'm just not a redhead (or even happy as a strawberry blonde), so it's either blonde or my natural color.

Lovely.

Then again so was the before picture.

Are you going to be there for the whole P2 shoot? I hope so. See you soon in any case.

Yeah, managed to work it out. I'll be there Oct 8-10, going home for Albacon, and then should be back Oct 12-18.

Awesome!

I think you'll be on the P2 Ingest crew. I'll be on it with you, as will "Dan Snyder" who I don't know. Its definitely down to a 1 person job. So if you pair off intelligently you should both have plenty of time to do just about anything else.

Awesome, because I wasn't really paying attention in June when you kind of showed me and Bill was doing it :P

Thanks! Looking at it over the course of the day, I decided I want to go over the top third with black. It got sort of lightened when I got frustrated and decided to cover everything :\

ooh, i like! tis a very nice colour. and somehow you pull of the purply-reds very well. bitch. ;)

in my quest for change, have decided to chop my hair off. and possibly do colour-y things with it. WAS thinking blonde and red-red highlights, but maybe will do red and purply-red? i mean, the blonde looked OKAY when i did the highlights forever ago...but your purply-red is just so damn cool i'm wondering how it would look with my lighter coloured hair? i used to dye it auburn quite often, and i always wanted to try, clairol USED to have a shade called "black cherry" that was purply, but could never make myself do it :x

we'll see.

in the meantime, yours looks fabu! :)

Thanks! XD

Oooo.. how short have you decided to cut your hair? I think I read the entry where you were thinking about it, but didn't know if you decided. I think some sort of burgundy highlights would look good.

Hm. One thing I don't like about my hair is that I totally got rid of the black at the top and right now I can't decide if I should just leave it alone or get some more dye and fix it :P
