Just got back from seeing The Incredible Hulk with [livejournal.com profile] sweetwildandmad and [livejournal.com profile] katkel.

I decided in the first three minutes that this one was a hundred times better than Ang Lee's Hulk film. Edward Norton makes a better Bruce Banner than Eric Bana (don't get me wrong, I love him) and I liked Liv Tyler better as Betty Ross.

Betty Ross, by the way, was thankfully not whiny and swoony and kicked a bit of ass (like when she broke that Army guy's nose! Ha!)

Opening - loved it. Condensed everything that happened in to this really cool montage that, as far as I know, is pretty true to the comics.

I thought the CG Hulk was much better in this one than the other and for anyone who wondered about the pants - I love that they threw in the fact that he was purposefully looking for huge, stretchy pants. XD

There were some funny bits and some really good dramatic bits. I have to admit that the movie was mostly set-up for a sequel or an Avengers film, but I did like it and would totally watch it again.

Speaking of... that thing that they've showed in commercials with Stark? Yeah. That's pretty much his whole scene. There's a little more that kind of amusing and his entrance kicks some ass, but the placement is all wrong. It's the very last scene in the film and in discussing it, we thought it would have made much more sense as an extra thing after the credits, like the Fury/SHIELD/Avengers thing in Iron Man. Whatever. I got a good movie plus 30 seconds of Stark. I'm happy XD

It really would have been better after the credits, I think. The scene before it was a perfect ending point, and if they'd put it later it would have mirrored the after-credits scene in Iron Man.

Of course, then they couldn't have used it in the advertising. :P

Yeah, definitely. And thinking back on it, it totally plays out like it was supposed to go after the credits. I'm sure they just wanted to capitalize on the massive success of Iron Man.

Yeah, some of the decisions the execs have been making... *shakes head* I would bet dollars to donuts that it was meant to go after the credits and someone at Marvel HQ tapped them on the shoulder and said "Hey, um... could you maybe put this back in the main film?"

*sigh*
