sga 4.09: miller's crossing
Dec. 1st, 2007 01:30 amSpoilery babble for Miller's Crossing.
ZOMG. I liked this episode a lot. Not really for the storyline, because, well, whatever. I LOVE Jeannie, so I'm glad she's back. The Sheppard/McKay interaction was great. And Ronon is so blase about Earth. Loved that scene with him and Walter.
Hooray for having Christopher Heyerdahl back on the set as the Wraith. Although... I can't really believe they brought the Wraith to Earth. I mean.. GEEZ. I hope they at least had the good sense NOT to let him see the coordinates.
Rodney (sorry, Meredith! XD) and Jeannie... oh man, I love those two. How she loves her dopey brother and will help him out when he's stuck even though he totally hates acknowledging that he needs it. AND ZELENKA. Telling McKay to just e-mail her already. XD I think all the science staff in that room were waiting to McKay to blow a gasket. HAhahahah!
That ending.. eep! Not Jeannie.. I knew she'd live. It's Jeannie - they won't kill heryet. But Rodney saying that he'd sacrifice himself to feed the Wraith so Jeannie could be saved. (And calling him John!) Oh, Rodney! And Sheppard telling him will absolutely not allow it... and then going to Wallace and yes, talking the guy into feeding the Wraith. DUDE. I love this show. Sheppard is just.. gah... that is some seriously psychotic moral ambiguity. When Rodney mentioned feeding the Wraith, I'm sure Sheppard was already calculating how difficult it would be to talk Wallace into "volunteering." That is some dark stuff, man. SGA-1 vs. SG-1? I'll side with Sheppard's team every time. Jack probably could be ruthless... I guess... but I can't really recall any moments. Sheppard, though, I can name several times where he easily chose the life of his team over a stranger's. And how perfect was his total deflection of Rodney trying to thank him for what he did -- because he didn't want to be thanked. He knows it's messed up that he did it, but he did it and it wasn't really heroic, it was just the best option that he saw.
Talking of Sheppard... civvies. Guh. The suit! Joe Flanigan looks amazing in a suit. Yes. I think I need to watch Thoughtcrimes again.
Anyway.
devildoll will probably know, but what comic was that he was reading? Curious. LOVED that the ending goes from uber serious to light and joke on the turn with this exchange:
Rodney: You and I are about even when it comes to looks, right?
John: Who'd been lying to you?
Rodney: I'm serious.
John: So am I.
Or.. something like that.. I can't remember it 100% but yeah, I always love their easy banter. And you can't mention banter without mentioning Zelenka and he had what I thought was one of the best lines in this episode: "I cannot sit around here waiting for you to have an epiphany; I am losing the will to live."
In conclusion: Martin Gero, how are you so awesome? And also, next season, please to be writing all SGA scripts.
Edit: Did Joe Flanigan actually say that John Sheppard is a "pretty pretty psycho princess"? If so... please elaborate.

Date: 2007-12-01 06:42 am (UTC)Jeannie was so awesome. I loved her sarcasm, totally a McKay trait, and the fact she was hiding some of that fear under it. And when they mentioned her epilepsy, I was like "wha?" cause it hadn't been mentioned, but it totally made sense with her. And she was all feeling for Wallace, but she was also thinking about Madison without her mom. Though, I'm all kinds of worried about Jeannie, since nanonites, inert or not, are still screwy. Just ask poor Elizabeth (which, EEEEE for next week!).
Oh my god. This is like the best episode of the season since Elizabeth left. I'm so loving it. Second place is the "Teyla is really, really unhappy her people have disappeared." That is not someone I would want to upset, just saying.
Oh! OH! And Ronon in the jeans and suit look. Can I just say, guh? With a helping of gah? Because man. he fit into the SGC loads. Though, I was surprised Walter attempting to speak to Ronon; R is kinda intimidating. Oh! And seeing Barrett back, and all "we'll work it out" and Ronon's just like "WTF am I here for again? I shoot things. A lot. Remember?"
Just so much love.

Date: 2007-12-01 07:08 am (UTC)Sheppard being all dark and protective is probably one of my favorite things about the character and it's been missing. Really glad we saw it again here. Beyond Jeannie being Rodney's sister, I think he got on with her well in "McKay & Mrs. Miller," so he also thinks of her as a friend and part of his extended family. I don't think it actually takes a lot for Sheppard to mark people as someone he would protect (ie: that.. kid.. in season 1), but obviously the degree of protection varies. Heh.
Jeannie. I really wish she could be a more regular cast member. Agree on the epilepsy being a bit random, but I guess it wasn't really random enough to throw us totally out of it. But nanites... yeah. They're still in her system! Not good.
Maybe Walter's used to Teal'c? So he didn't think chatting Ronon up was a big deal XD Ronon was pretty much bored as all hell stuck in the SGC with all these people "planning." The boy just wanted something to shoot at! Heheh.

Date: 2007-12-01 07:19 am (UTC)Jeannie, I would love to have on like at least twice a year. Because it's a more fluid change with the rest of the characters. And random information that pops up seems to just fit so perfectly. And it allows us to see a less jerk side of McKay, more frequently. I feel so bad for Jeannie. I don't want her to end up like Weir. She just would not be a good Rep, at all. She'd convince them to leave everyone alone, or they would be hit with a clue by four and it would not be pretty. And a reminder she's a McKay, and the genes are scary smart, so it's not a good idea because she can totally make them all look like featherless ducks if she has a mind for it.
Walter might be used to Teal'c, but he typically doesn't look he wants to eat just from boredom. *grins* Ronon was Shep's right hand in a gunfight and he had nothing to actually do, except be bored because they can't do anything without bureaucratic crap getting in the way. I mean, the least they could have done with give him someone to stun, just for play.

Date: 2007-12-01 04:16 pm (UTC)As Joe Flanigan said, John is a pretty pretty psycho princess. This would be proof positive of that fact.

Date: 2007-12-06 12:55 am (UTC)I didn't! And the thing is, I was all, "It must be fake--I can't recognize it." And then I was like, "Wow, way to go, egotistical fangirl! If you don't know what it is IT DOESN'T EXIST, is that right?"
But now that's the consensus, so it doesn't feel egotistical. *g*
yes, very late response, catching up on open tabs...
