Uh. What the hell is going on in fandom? I just went to randomly look at my flist after posting about computer FIRE and I see a post about accounts being deleted. WTF?

I think it has to do something about journals with illegal contant stuff such as sexually explicit material involving minors, or soliciting people to break the law and such.

But from what I understand Lj wasn't given a list of journals that were "voliating" something and were deleted. But I'm as confused as you!

I heard that a couple days ago people claimed it was a hoax, but in the last day or so tons of comms and users were being suspended. WFI claims they are only reporting journals that include incest/child porn and not other adult materials, but it's not like you can guarantee that. Ugh. MESSY.

I guess it's a good thing I have NO interest in incest or child porn. My LJ is safe... for now.

This is another reason for considering making my LJ "Friends Only".

For the last couple days, I've only been hearing about FanLibs, but looks like Fanlibs has been dethroned! lol

It seems like they're suspending based solely on interests since some Lolita literary discussion comms were shut down too.

Yup Fandom_wank is down... I guess is one MASSIVEWANK! But I got through the first page of comments. lol

Yeah... What is in the air? It seems like people who know nothing about fandom are prodding the fandom giant and are wondering the giant is biting their heads off.

The FanLibs thing was... corporate being stupid and unedumacated. I kind of igored it, but I saw it several times on the f-list and Fandom_wank.

*nods* I like that the person from WFI says they would never report a fandom journal and in fact.. didn't even know what fandom was. Uh. Then how do you know you're not reporting fandom journals?!

I just got to the WFI person's comment... umm that seems "I don't know what fandom is!" line is getting old. People before have said that and we didn't believe them. It isn't going to be any different here. =P

I sort of understand the banning of fics with underage characters and rape...but incest? Like, consenting adults committing incest? Who cares? Is that even illegal?

Not only that, there are a couple comms devoted to discussing Nabokov's Lolita because... lolita. It's insanity, really.

It's obvious this is meant to target harry potter fics. And I understand that because most of it is about underage characters. But what about all that supernatural wincest stuff....seriously...who cares?

I'm also wondering if any paid accounts have been suspended and what happens in that case.

And as for "illegal activities"...am I gonna have to go back and flock all my posts that mention using illegal drugs? Cuz fuck if I'm gonna censor myself. If I have to censor myself here I'll start my own blog elsewhere. And I'll want my money back for my perm account.

Hm... not unless you put those in your interests. I think that's just how the WFI people are finding accounts and then sending those users to LJ Abuse.
