www.newegg.com -- $309 for the camera and a free 2GB SD card until the end of April. If you pay with paypal, you can enter PPAL1GB and get another free 1GB SD card :D
Holy cow, that's a good deal. End of April? I swear everyone wants my bank account to go to $0 this month. :p But getting a total of 3GB SD cards seems worth it.
Yes! I've only played with it a little bit and I have a lot to learn on this thing, but I'm really digging it.
If you get this camera (or any other new digital) I highly recommend getting a set or two of the Energizer E2 Rechargables. The AAs are 2500mAh and I went all weekend at ICON without having to change the batteries. (Though I might have on Sunday just to make sure they didn't die.)
I wanna fiddle with the video features; this thing is supposed to have a really awesome mic and that'll be handy at cons where "video" isn't allowed but still is. Mwahahaha!
Bwhaha, that's what makes this camera so appealing. It looks like a camera, but it can take awesome video too. Camcorder in disguise! My dad was all "get a camcorder!" I'm all "You're missing the whole point!" lol
I really have to check to see if I have enough money in my account before I order this, but I think this is the best deal. ;)
Yeah, it was a totally excellent deal, even with the eBay packages considered because a) NewEgg will replace if there is a problem with the item and b) after shipping, the eBay packages ended up more and all you got were some crappy accessories.
I threw mine on a credit card so I can pay it back slowly XD
FYI - I've been reading a bit on SD card errors on this camera (and on the previous S2) and it seems to be most common on high capacity cards over 2GB in size. I think Canon has said that their cameras are only compliant with SD cards that are "standard" format. I have no idea what that means....
I've spent 4 years learning the ins and outs of the Nikon Coolpix 3100, so this new Canon S3 is totally foreign to me. I sort of figured out how to set the white balance and fiddled a little with the manual focus, but everything else (flash options, f-stops, aperture, etc) I'm confused about mostly because I don't understand all the little icons yet.
No problem. I have several books but they won't help you as they're on my desk. *eyes evil bookstack of doom*

Ah, the icons are confusing because, if I remember right, they aren't the same as the Nikon. No little worldwide recognizable iconz
I wouldn't mess with the fstop/aperature settings unless you're really good at metering by sight and you have a good reason for messing with them.
i.e. depth of field, special effects, exposure compensation that ev +/- won't fix
More people switch to manual and then forget to switch back than you can imagine.
Does this camera shoot in RAW? If you do work on Photoshop, you'd probably totally love the control. Er, once you adjusted to the workflow :D
Oh wait... I'm giving you more features to check! Sorry!
Uhm, nope, almost entirely different, so I'm having to guess (can't be bothered to look at the book now). I wish they were more standardized....

I like to take weird night shots/light shots that are blurry and smeary, so being able to fiddle with the fstop/aperture would be handy :)
Although, just now, I discovered the Shutter Priority setting, which is what I was looking for, I think. Uh. Gonna need a tripod for that one. LOL
Also played with the zoom a bit. Wow. I love the zoom & manual focus features on this camera. Yes.
Doesn't shoot in RAW, but I think the images will be more than usable for just general photos and digital art; it's 6MP compared to my 3MP Nikon, so I'll live. Heh.
Working with RAW files does sound interesting though...

What features confuse you? Most of them are useless, btw.
