friday; nyc weekend;
Mar. 12th, 2007 10:30 pmPlaying catch-up with my memory...
Friday
Work = blah. But after work I stopped by to visit
thebigfatman and family. That was cool. Didn't stay too long as I had to get up early the next day to drive to NYC.
I'm sure other stuff happened on Friday, but as my brain is small I've forgotten most of it. See? This is why I need to write all this down.
Saturday
Got up at 5am to get ready to leave for NYC. Mom was coming with me. We both had friends to visit, so that was good. The secondary purpose of this trip was so I could refresh my memory of the drive for when I headed down that way for I-CON.
The drive was pretty easy and uneventful; got to Mei's house in Forest Hills about 10:30am. We settled in a little before heading out. I was going to meet
crushw_eyeliner and her friend B at FAO Schwartz (in retrospect, that was probably not the best place.. oh well) and mom came with me as she was going to wander around the city for awhile. Once we all met up, we headed out for the day. Ended up walking through Central Park to see Strawberry Fields. Went to Midtown Comics. where I bought myself a Thor figure. Ended up in Chinatown later in the afternoon. We went to a few shops before heading to the Elizabeth St. shopping center. I bought a PostPet keychain from the MarimoUSA store and an All Star keychain at a different store XD
B's boyfriend met us a little later and we all wandered down to the South Street Seaport. We got a nice walking tour and history lesson. Heh. Went back to Chinatown where we had dinner at Joe's Shanghai. Not bad, but kinda touristy. The xioa long bao (soup dumplings) they're famous for were good though; kind of a long line. There are better places in Chinatown for food, but for xiao long bao, Joe's is okay, I guess. (I'm told the one in Flushing is better.) We also had the double-roasted pork and the salt & pepper shrimp. Not bad. After dinner, we went to the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory, which was pretty damn awesome. I had the lychee sorbet -- yummy!
That pretty much ended the night. We all headed back to the subway station before going our separate ways. Overall, it was a really great day. I hope it's not another four years before I see
crushw_eyeliner again.
Photos from the trip are here.

Sunday
Went for breakfast in Flushing. Did some shopping at the Hong Kong Supermarket. I got a case of rice congee and some snack foods. Mom & Mei went to the Chinese doctor and I went with Annie and Jenny to the Korean market where we.. bought limes & lemons. *shrug* Went back to the doctor's office in time to catch my mother buying two amethyst geodes. *facepalm*
Headed home after that, though. Got back around 7pm.

Monday
Work=the suck. But at least it went by faster today because I had a ton of work to do.
I had a huge scare this morning, though. Someone from mom's office called home at 10am to ask where she was because she hadn't come in to the office. Cue panic. I was slowly building myself up to a freak-out for about 20 minutes and was ready to call the cops because she wasn't answering her cell (it was going to vm). Thankfully, my mother called me to say she was in a training class. *headdesk*
Worked a bit on a TARDIS shirt for
sweetwildandmad. Typed up this thing. Now I have to go register myself for an EZPass and check on LiveScifi.com.
EDIT: Oh for frak's sake. I can't get an EZPass because my car is already registered under my father's account.

Date: 2007-03-13 04:43 pm (UTC)The EZPass agent told me to sign up using a bogus plate number and then fax them some sort of form when I got the tag. UNHELPFUL.
