Feb. 2nd, 2007 07:59 pmZOMG THE DUMB that I have to deal with 8 hours a day, 5 days a week is starting to make me unstable. Seriously.
After work I stopped in at Target to pick up some boring items: pens (because I can't find one that works!), envelopes, air freshener refill things, dish soap, and a planner refill. Oh, plus some snacky foods like granola bars and oatmeal for my mornings at work because I can never find the time to eat before I leave.
Some of the Stargate cast and crew are working on a new Internet series called Sanctuary. Amanda Tapping, Christopher Heyerdahl, David Hewlett, Damian Kindler (creator), and Martin Wood all have some level of involvement. Each episode is expected to be about 40 minutes in length, but that can vary as they don't have to fit broadcast regulations.
Speaking of Stargates, I'm once again behind on SGA episodes and haven't even gone looking for new SG-1. Meh.
Not that I really need a USB hub, but if I were to look in to it, I'd totally get a TARDIS USB hub. When, you know, it was US$40. (Hell, I'd get a Stargate USB hub if they made such a thing.)
There is an article online wherein the author calls Sarah Jane's sonic lipstick sexist. Which, all right, I may see where you're coming from, but I think it really is just a camouflage issue and NOT a blantant stereotype. Besides, the Doctor gave it to her and... well, really. The Doctor. On second thought, I suppose he could be a little sexist thinking that girls are... girls. Hm. Anyway. He's got those Time Lord pants that are bigger on the inside.... so he can carry that sonic screwdriver a bit easier :x Or something. I lost my point somewhere.
So I read this WIRED blog about Amie Street, which lead me to the band Jet Overhead.
I've never actually paid for MP3s before, but I just did. Why? Not only is this Canadian band great, they also have their entire catalogue on their website as a voluntary purchase. Never heard of such a thing... but basically you can download whatever you want and they have a sort of pricing guide where you don't really have to pay for them, but if you're feeling generous, you can throw a little something their way. They suggest $5 for their first album. Totally worth it and I think it's good to encourage that sort of thing.
I'll have a poke through Amie Street when I have more time, but the premise is that all songs start out as a free download and the price increases as the download count increases, maxing out at $0.98 per song. The MP3s have no DRM. You can earn credit by recommending tracks to friends. You purchase a certain number of credits to allow you to pay for music (from $3 for 300 cents to $25 for 2500cents). Sounds like an interesting system. Unfortunately right now it's being overloaded with hits due to the WIRED blog, so....
I did some work on my thingo for Monday. So I'm going to blow everything off tonight and work on some Tennant icons. Following various tutorials I have seen and other people's textures. Because I lose at art lately.

The Doctor: [pulls out a gamepad] Guess what I've got, Donna? Pockets!
Donna: How did it fit in there?
The Doctor: They're bigger on the inside.
