Friday after work, I picked up [livejournal.com profile] thebigfatman at her office and headed to the Albany Airport for the opening of the Natural Selection show. It was pretty cool and the exhibit was really neat. It was nice chatting with Sharon, Bonnie, and Berta again. We freaked Mike out by staring at him from the Observation deck while he was on duty -- I don't think he recognized us, so he sort of waved nervously and moved off. Heh. Oh... uh... Kathy's water broke early on in the evening. That was... different.

Sharon mentioned the last show they had -- Model Citizens -- which I really wanted to see. There was a piece by artist Daniel Goodwin. It was.. hm.. I think helium balloons with satellite images of certain government officials' houses. Heh. Wish I saw that.

Photos from the event:

I also uploaded photos from the first Art & Culture opening I attended: Precious Little, March 11, 2005

Saturday I spent waaaaay too much time shopping. Thankfully it was mostly a mom-sponsored spree, so it didn't cost me anything. Got new shirts. I knew about the Alias Rambaldi box set, but I saw it in person at BJ's. Oh. Em. Gee. I want it. The box art is awesome and it contains extra shiny features! *grabbyhands*

Reorganized my gallery and have added the following photos:

Build a Bears! Yep. Dedicated gallery. Unfortunately, I still don't have photos of KayleeBear... so I'll have to get some soon.

Crafts: so far, it's mostly jewelry and plushes, but I'm going to try to get some old sculptures and stuff posted too. (For some reason., some of the images are displaying out of order.. whatever...)

I've been messing around with DVD covers all day. Made one for my KitCon set and will be printing ones to replace my giant SG-1 box sets soon.

Speaking of.... anyone who got those Best of Both Worlds DVDs? I got sick of looking at a post-it note stuck to the spine and I made a cover for my set. It fits a standard 2-disc single DVD case and needs to printed landscape on legal sized paper (or something slightly longer than 11"). Feel free to pass the link on to anyone who... uh *cough* got a DVD set. BOBW 26 Cover (~3MB)

Fandom news:

Stargate Atlantis Season 2 DVD set to be released March 6, 2007. What the hell is up with that?? I assume it's because they're coordinating with the push back of the Stargate premieres, but seriously, what the hell? It's not like the DVDs aren't done. People overseas have already had them for months. Ugh. I hate Marketing people.

And along the lines of SciFi anger, first they move BSG to Sunday nights and next they are pushing back the return of Stargates from March to April. I really, really hate you people. (news was posted in TV Guide)

Huh. Apparently Michael Shanks and Jamie Ray Newman (CADMAN!) are going to be in some cheese-tastic Lifetime original Movie called "Under the Mistletoe." I am intrigued. It's airing tomorrow night at 9pm.

I went digging through your crafts gallery due to my recent interest in jewelry-making. Nice repeated elements on those bracelets, but it's your felt dolls that really impress me. (Mostly because I wouldn't be sure where to begin in trying to make one myself!)

Thanks! :D I kinda got out of jewelry making because everything I made just started looking boring and similar :\

Making craft dolls is fun ^^ I did a lot of hunting online for patterns or a cartoon/drawing I wanted to make a felt critter out of :)

Last night my mother snagged me to discuss the possibility of her swinging by Hobby Lobby to pick up some supplies and try her hand at making jewelry for people for Xmas. I had to point out to her A) the amount one winds up spending on gathering various items (that are then left over waiting to be used up, if one only made a few pieces at a time) and B) the learning curve in turning out something nice enough to be worth giving as a gift. I also indicated my complete non-interest in sitting down with her for a crash course in jewelry-making, owing to the amount of knitting I have yet to do in the next three weeks. (And the jewelry I've already decided I'm going to make. Erg. I know last night I was tired and frustrated because I was afraid I'd be struggling to reburn five DVD-Rs on a computer that kept choking and crashing and because I didn't know House would be a rerun. Maybe the stuff I ordered for my sister's choker will show up by the weekend and I can have a sitdown with Mom and maybe even help her knock together something for her boyfriend's mother after all.
