Sep. 10th, 2006 04:12 pmUgh. Sunday is mostly over and I still haven't had a chance to watch "McKay & Mrs. Miller" all the way through! *woe*
Before I get on with the rest of this post, I would just like to say (as if anyone who needs to read this actually will) that all the idiots posting dumbass fangirly bullshit over at dgeek.com need to stop. Like now. It is not a fansite for you to spew all your fannish squee -- it's David Hewlett's personal site. I really don't know what the hell is wrong with people. Clearly half of them also have LJs or are on Gateworld -- post all your overly fannish tripe there! I just couldn't take it any more and wrote a rant in the FAQ forum that I'm sure will go unread by all the people who actually need to read it.
I've finally done the birthday shindig write-up, which is probably really boring considering I haven't gotten off my arse to post pictures yet.
Yesterday morning, mom and I picked up
thebigfatman and headed over to Shaker Heitage for their craft fair. Spent a couple hours there walking around. I bought a whole lot of soap from Summit Soapworks. The owner remembered me XD And I seriously bought so much stuff, she threw in a couple bars of free soap and a free lip balm. Her soaps are my favorite. I also got some belated birthday gifts and,
queenmaab - I picked up a couple things for you. I saw them and I just couldn't resist XD I have this problem where if I see something I know someone will like, I'll probably buy it for them. One is a purple grim reaper and the other is a surprise. Heh.
The rest of the day, I really didn't do anything but settle in on the couch and alternate between napping and watching TV. I am such a loser.
This morning, however, I was all about limited productivity! Went to get an oil change and talked to
cassiejamie on the phone while I was waiting. Got my car washed, which was a strange experience because the place was filled with teenage workers. I swear, they were all barely legal driving age. I did manage to get a free interior vacuuming because the kid just started to do it and I was only getting an exterior wash. Hoooray for me!
After that I stopped by Joann's and proceeded to wander around for over an hour because I kept changing my mind on items and then forgetting what I was supposed to be buying in the first place. In the end, I did walk out with just what I needed to make the stand for my CHIMP mirror.
Speaking of, I'm now off to go work on that stand. I must have it for tomorrow!! Maybe it'll help me work off how annoyed I am with fandom idiots at the moment.

Date: 2006-09-10 08:26 pm (UTC)Good heavens, why is there such a need to traumatise actors? It's throwing a bad light on the entire fandom.

Date: 2006-09-11 04:43 pm (UTC)It was a good craft fair. And small, so we were able to do it in a couple hours. My mother wants to go to the Hildene Fair (next weekend?) and the Big E (www.thebige.com) Expo in Springfield MA sometime before Oct. 7. Any chance you want to go to either?

Date: 2006-09-11 06:32 pm (UTC)What do you think about Supplex for the jackets? It's rated highly wind & water resistant, and comes in khaki, charcoal, and black (among others)...

Date: 2006-09-11 07:03 pm (UTC)You gonna snag a sample pack to check the fabric first? The jackets look like a heavy weight cotton blend. Not sure how this fabric looks in person...

Date: 2006-09-11 10:15 pm (UTC)Presuming the colors look good, I'll be going with the same kind of fabric.
My original theory on the panels was that they were not only for departmental differentiation but also for general ventilation (In which case having them the same fabric would serve no purpose. Of course, that's what I get for trying to approach the construction from a logical/function POV *Headdesk&).
