New Stargates! Yay! Well. SG-1 looks good and the SGA commercial makes me scared o_O

Right. So we're back to the Jaffa bullshit. I kind of don't care about them. Bring on the genetically altered figurehead!

YAY!! Morena! She's playing a rather different character than Inara. I like her. Even though she's evil and they just totally wiped out an entire village of people with some weird radiation field. I dunno. I guess I just like tangible bad guys rather than some deity floating around in another dimension with fire and brimstone at their call. If they'd started off with the Orici last season.. okay, we wouldn't have really understood the whole thing, but yeah, it's more interesting. Of course, it could just be the fact that it's Morena :x

Vala is such a liar. She doesn't feel relieved that Adria is the way she is. She's covering like she always does by brushing it off and just... being flippant. Daniel totally sees through it. I like that Daniel was trying to comfort her and that she cuts him off because she just doesn't want to deal with it.

Oh. Well. I guess it wasn't Adria. It was the damn Jaffa being all gun happy with the device on Dakara. Hm. I would say, good job, guys, except you probably didn't get Adria and now she's going to be pissed.

Awww! Daniel's telling the story about Sha'uri. Well, at least he still remembers her. I remember in season 1 when he was all, "I must save my wife!" and then they just kinda, pushed that aside for a long while. Heh.

Heee! Cameron, I heart you. "I think he was quoting Sun Tzu... or Doctor Phil." And then the, "slow down, brotha, we were here first" when the Jaffa showed up. Hah.

Sam: I think I activated the shields.
Vala: Why would you do that?!
Sam: It wasn't intentional.
Vala: Oh.

The new leader of the Free Jaffa is a punk ass. Rya'c could beat the crap out of him.

Oh, Cameron. You wake up so prettily. And the dog tags! Guh.

Hey! Does Sam have one of the shiny new Dell XPS laptop? I think she totally does.

Whoa. Adria has crazy super powers o.O In this case, they were totally helpful.

Daniel, there's really no reason to point a gun at Adria who can totally kill you with her brain!

Aww! Adria misses her mum. Which is kinda sweet, if a bit weird 'cause like, she totally wants to have Vala brainwashed.

Uhm. Sam, you're just going to leave that laptop and stuff sitting there?

Oh, man, Adria is a totally awesome villain! Had she shown up, say, last year, I might have actually given a crap about the show.

Hm. The Jaffa leader seems to have a good point... I mean, the rest of the galaxy is being taken over by Ori and Earth is just sitting around twiddling their thumbs. So, to be fair, they do make a good case that they're the ones fighting the battle. I mean, yeah, SG-1 is out and about, but still.

I'm wondering if somehow Vala will turn Adria away from Origin. I mean, she seems like a little girl who just wants her mother to be proud of her.. or join her. Of course, she's also a superpowerful being who isn't about throwing a hissyfit and destroying a whole lot of stuff.

Utohs. Evil alien has plans in mind for Daniel.

Hey, good for Bra'tac for getting Landry (and himself) out of there before Dakara got wiped out. Good job, asshole Jaffa.

"You can't remake the past, so look ahead, or you'll get left behind." Aww, Vala :(

The Vala-centric episode in two weeks looks pretty good. I mean, yeah, it's another team-member-captured episode, but whatever. I like Vala. Bring it on.

WHY THE BLOODY HELL IS WWE RAW ON SCIFI?! WHY????

SPOILERS FOR STARGATE ATLANTIS 3.07: COMMON GROUND

So.... I'm writing this bit before SciFi Friday even starts, but I've been seeing the commercial every break and... dude. The Wraith really does feed on Sheppard and he does age a bit. Buh?! I call some sort of magic heal-y drug from Carson or the Wraith does some tricked out reverse-feeding because they cut a deal or something.

OHMYGODWHATTHEFUCK! Sheppard just got harpooned and grappled!!!!! My first thought: Ronon is so going to hunt Kolya down and kill his ass. While John might have a problem killing Kolya after he's messed with the city and his team twice, I'm pretty sure Ronon would not have the same reservations.

Ohh! Hey! Christopher Heyerdahl! That means Halling is back :D [Edit: I totally forgot I'd even written this. I guess Christopher Heyerdahl was the Wraith in this episode. I thought that voice sounded familiar! Erm. And he was a Wraith male in "No Man's Land" and "Misbegotten." Geez. Shows how much I pay attention.]

McKay: What are you gonna do, like, ask one of the Genii if they took Sheppard?
Weir: Yes.

Oh! Laden! :D I did kind of like him. And he is all clean cut now. Shiny.

"Dammit. I should have killed him." Yes, John, you totally should have. Both time you met him.

John is in that leather jacket again! Hotness. It must be his "running through alien worlds doing battle" outfit.

Eee! Rodney is the first one who wants to know what Koyla's done to Sheppard. He is so worried about his boyfriend.

Oh man, they totally bring out the starving Wraith to feed on John! Kolya, I totally hate you and I hope Ronon finds you first. He is going to cut you up into tiny pieces.

John and the Wraith chit-chatting in jail. Except he doesn't know he's talking to the Wraith. Hmm.

Laden: Must he (Ronon) be here?
Weir: The more I hear, the more I'm glad he is.

Awww! Rodney getting the strike force ready to go by saying things Sheppard would say! And Ronon with his, "just stay behind me." So much team love!

Sheppard is so glib. And kind of hot. Okay, really hot.

Ronon is totally leading the strike team! I love it. I have a feeling this whole thing is a bust, though. Yep. Totally.

Oh man. I hope that this is where Sheppard and the Wraith implement their cunning plan for escape. :x Or not. Oh my god. What the fuck. OMG. I'm not sure how they're going to fix this... :x

Sheppard: You know I could have sworn I was going to wake up dead today.

Dude. Aged Sheppard totally has some moves. But giving the Wraith a gun he doesn't know how to use... hm.

Erm. Sheppard just staked that guard! That's really amusing for some reason.

The team in Elizabeth's office... done with steady cam. Kinda weird.

John and the Wraith talking it out in the forest was kinda... cool, I guess. I mean, yeah the Wraith do kill humans because they need to feed to live. I get that, I kinda do, but hey, since I'm human I can't totally agree -- I wouldn't want to be a Wraith snack. But maybe these interaction will, I don't help with something. Not understanding exactly but to see that the Wraith aren't just completely evil (even though I was sort of all right with them just being killing machines with a superiority complex) and maybe the Wraith can appreciate humans are more than just cattle. Okay, okay, that's not likely but I'm just babbling here.

Heh. Cloaked jumper and Ronon. Oh, Laden, how well you know the Atlanteans. I love how both Weir and Ronon agree on the "no promises" retrieval of Kolya.

Uhm. The Wraith totally just sapped John and what I was thinking before? Giving John his life back? Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what he's going to do. HAH!! Didn't someone call this in a fic? The ability the Wraith have of giving life back? I can't remember, but it does seem to make sense.

"There is a lot you do not know about the Wraith." Yeah, and I kinda would like to learn more about them if the damn writers would see fit to tell us.

HHAHAH "What debt? Are you kidding? He looks younger than he did before!" Oh, Rodney. Jealous?

That was pretty damn cool. I liked John and the Wraith having to work together and then both keeping the bargain. It was starting to seem like if you made a deal with the Atlanteans, you just got screwed over at the end. Uhm, actually, it seemed like Weir was the one doing that, but whatever. Yeah, so. The Wraith giving John his life back ("we reserve the gift of life for our most devout worshippers and our brothers") was pretty awesome and I'm sort of surprised Ronon didn't kill the Wraith on sight instead of just kind of pushing him away from Sheppard. Served the story, I suppose. This makes me want to learn more about the Wraith and what their society is really like. I guess kind of like we learned a bit about the Jaffa through Teal'c, but I really don't see a Wraith joining the team. Heh.

You know, acutally, the whole thing with Michael... we could have used that to learn more about the Wraith, but they totally ditched that plot. I hope Michael comes back, except now he's probably all pissed off at the humans where he could have been helpful in some way.

Edit: Where was Lorne?? He should have been here to lead the strike team, damn it. Come back, Lorne!!

|n two weeks: AHHHHHH! It's two Rodneys!! That's what's with the suave Rodney and our Rodney! Hmm... I think I can totally get behind two Rodneys. Yes.

END SPOILERS FOR ATLANTIS

Stargate episodes being available on iTunes throws me into a bit of a dilemma. I always said I was okay torrenting because I couldn't buy my shows on DVD, but now with iTunes.... well. Hm. I mean, I could buy them legally, right, but.. fuck that. I will wait for a DVD release with the shiny extra features and physical disks.

So.... next Friday we're getting some sort of weird Ancient/time travel themed SG-1 marathon. The line up is "The Fifth Race," "The Lost City" Parts 1 & 2, "1969," "Window of Opportunity," "Moebius" Parts 1 & 2, and "2010." Kind of a weird order, but whatever. Oh. I guess it's the fan favorite marathon. Huh.

Lord of the Rings Limited Editions come out next week. I... want them. Because they are shiny and have new extras :x But I will be good because I don't need them. No, really, I don't... uh....

Hm. I need a snack.

Wraith does some tricked out reverse-feeding because they cut a deal or something.

All I can say is... can't wait for the slash fic! ;) Dude. It's totally Enemy Mine (just substitute the pregnant alien for a starving one)

Oh! Laden! :D I did kind of like him. And he is all clean cut now. Shiny.

And is that actor kind of short or is Momoa really tall? A little of both? Ladon is a brave man for standing his ground against Ronon... who looked like he was ripe to castrate something several times this ep.

Eee! Rodney is the first one who wants to know what Koyla's done to Sheppard. He is so worried about his boyfriend.... So much team love!

Which was awesome. I love the Big Happy (hot) Family eps. I also love how they're all totally worried about Shep. [ You can't tell me the whole team isn't having wild orgies between eps / in commercial breaks... cuz they SO are!! ]

Dude. Aged Sheppard totally has some moves. But giving the Wraith a gun he doesn't know how to use... hm.

The Wraith fiddling with the gun / unintentionally pointing it right at Shep was kind of cute... in a perverse sort of way.

Not understanding exactly but to see that the Wraith aren't just completely evil

I guess I was expecting the Wraith to get more dimension, or at least the writers take them in a different direction (because, even as the animalistic savage killers they've been? They really don't hold a candle to the Asurans as enemies).

I love how both Weir and Ronon agree on the "no promises" retrieval of Kolya.

::tries to contain the squee of the suprsekrit Ronon/Weir shipper within... and fails miserably::

"There is a lot you do not know about the Wraith." Yeah, and I kinda would like to learn more about them if the damn writers would see fit to tell us.

Word. They can't just drop a bomb like that then run off merrily to Replicators Version 2. Please say there's some more on that in the future writers (namely, a reunion between John and Enemy Mine Wraith in this ep)!

You know, acutally, the whole thing with Michael... we could have used that to learn more about the Wraith, but they totally ditched that plot. I hope Michael comes back, except now he's probably all pissed off at the humans where he could have been helpful in some way.

He did spare Beckett when he could have so easily killed him in "Misbegotten". There could be hope for Michael yet (but no promises on his dewraithified/rewraithified brethren)... of course I could be saying that because I'd love to see Connor Trineer as a regular/semi-regular next season.

Yeah, I don't glean why WWE is on SciFi now. Sucks. So not what I think SciFi should be all about.

I'm way out of the LotR loop and didn't know anything about the new editions except that they're showing up as entries on my Yahoo! RSS feed that lists upcoming DVD releases. So what new goodies are on them?

Ermm... I'm finally catching up on old LJ comments. I'm sure you've already gotten the answer to this, but just in case...

The new editions feature the theatrical and extended cuts on one DVD plus extra behind the scene documentary footage that hasn't been released before. I saw them at Best Buy the other day and I just really, really love the packaging. Unfortunately,I really can't justify spending $60 to own a third set of the films.

No, I'd never heard what was on the new editions and I'm no one to complain about late replies. Thanks for telling me -- if I were still really in the fandom, or even if I'd bothered to check out any of the extra features on the other EE sets (beyond the actor and PJ commentaries), it might be worth getting. Especially since at least one or two of my EE disks might have gotten a bit scratched and now can be cantankerous at a few scenes. But, for now, with new fandoms and other DVD sets I need to buy (especially with one for my current fannish love that itself costs $60), I doubt it's going to happen.

They are a pretty good deal ($20 each), but considering I've already got copies, it's a little silly. I think if you need a replacement, it might be a good investment.
