The weekend is over already! How did this happen?!

Yesterday I went to a barbecue at [livejournal.com profile] sweetwildandmad and [livejournal.com profile] katkel's. I met a couple other friends of theirs. It was a good time. I brought poi and did a little poi throwing -- I figured out the wave! OMG. Well, sort of. I've got most of the movemnet down. I'm attributing that to practicing with the escrima sticks. Anyway. Yeah. Good time. I spent a lot of it geeking out over Stargate and zombies films and whatnot with [livejournal.com profile] sweetwildandmad and his friend Dave. I didn't leave their place until about 2am, I think. Whoa.

As a result, I didn't get up this morning until after noon. Then I putzed around on the internet before heading out to do some yardwork. Not that I did that because instead I decided to recruit [livejournal.com profile] seijitataki to help me cut the dowels I bought to make my own escrima sticks. I know, I know, I was going to buy a set and I probably still will, but it's amusing to me to be able to make my own things. Like I made my own poi, but bought two sets anyway. So. I had him cut the dowels and then help me find some tools to sand them with. I had purchased oak dowels and picked the ones with the best looking grain -- as in, didn't look like they were going to splinter. Wel... while I was sanding them I was none too amused that bits of it were still coming up rough because of the way the grain was. Glargh. Now, I got a lot of it sanded really smooth, but there are just parts that would probably give me splinters. I'm thinking of getting some wood putty to fix it up. *shrug* $2 at Lowes, I think, so it wouldn't be a big expense.

After fooling around with that, the brother and I did a bit of yardwork. Nothing too exciting.

I watched "Sateda" again with [livejournal.com profile] cassiejamie after dinner. Still really loving that episode.

And now.. it's time for bed. Sheesh. I can't believe it's this late already...

Edit: I forgot to mention this. [livejournal.com profile] seijitataki linked me and I thought I'd pass it along.
