Work was blah. I don't want to talk about it.

When I got home, I decided to take crap photos of my tactical gear. I know pgnblade was going to do a bunch of photos with me, but I am lame and couldn't wait :-P He'll take better photos at some point later. Anyway... pictures!

First up, the science outfit. Yeah, I know it's totally not canon, but I think it could possibly pass from several feet away.



And this is the military variant, even though I'm not wearing the right pants. And the shirt I have that is Sheppard-like is fleece and there is no way I'm wearing that when it's like 90 degrees outside, so yeah.



So.. the tactical vest looks horrendously huge on me, but... oh well? At least the holster fits. But I hate the belt and want the one like Sheppard has with the grommets. Heh.

you look very cool! and totally like you're the "background scientist #32 (possibly geologist)" standing behind McKay in that one scene where they find a great new Ancient weapon, but you're sadly sucked of life by a Wraith before you get any lines other than,"Rodney, help me!" or possibly you get blown up or decompressed or get exposed to a nanovirus...one of those. Zelenka will look very sad when he announces, "Dr. Weir, she's dead!" and then Beckett (who was coming running with the medical gear) will slide to a halt, and look downcast and sad. Sheppard will look all steely-eyed and menacing and will heft his P-90 significantly. "Come on, Ronon, Teyla, let's find the guys responsible!" And Ronon will growl with vengeance in his eyes and Teyla will nod grimly and heft her weapon, and they will dash off in search of the bad guys. Meanwhile, McKay's fingers will fly over the keys of his computer as he grimly tracks the malfeasants who *dared* to kill off one of *his* scientists (possibly a geologist). And in the background, Chuck the Gate technician will surrepticiously wipe his eyes ('cause he was getting up the nerve to ask you out & now he'll never have the chance.... ::sniff:: )

IOW, COOL OUTFIT!

of course! you were well-liked. Dr. Weir bravely sniffed back tears as she led your memorial service. some of the Marines put your picture up on their memorial wall, because you used to play cards with them & they thought you were pretty cool, for a geologist (even though you routinely cleaned them out of all their coffee rations over poker). Chuck would secretly keep your necklace in his locker to remember you by.

you really do look totally like one of McKay's crew, on a trip offworld (possibly looking for naquada before the tragic Wraith life-sucking incident).

the tac vest in the scientist outfit looks great, but you're right, the military tac vest looks bulky. i think because it's meant for big dudes built like brick shithouses. but maybe the fleece underneath would take away from the apparently bulky-ness...

overall tho', those look AWESOME. i'm espescially fond of the scientist getup, but i think that's because i love ze scientists. mebbe. :op

Thanks! I got a tip about relacing the sides to take it in about two inches, so I'm going to try and see if that helps.

I dig the science version as well ^^ I'm hoping that I can wear that as one of my uniforms for the Jersey Creation Con.

what type of pant are you wearing in the top two pics? i'm putting together an atlantis costume (scientist, of course ;D), and i'm still trying to find suitable pants. the ones you have on there look pretty good. where did you get them, and do you know if they come in dark grey?

Hi!

I got them from Delias.com about 4 or 5 years ago, so I don't even know if they have them any more. I think when I bought them they only came in the khaki and an olive green.

and thanks for putting up that SGA costume guide - it's been helpful in trying to put together my own =D
