Work was almost painful today, but not because what I was doing. I've just been so very tired and kept nodding off at my desk. Ugh. Still got all my stuff done in a timely manner, though!

After work I decided to stop by Best Buy to inquire about the car stereo. Uhm. Yeah, I totally bought it and got it installed. After extra harness kits and whatnot (including a $24 4-year protection plan I probably didn't really need), I'm $240 poorer. On the plus side, I have a very shiny new stereo that plays MP3s! *glee* Uhm. It's also possible that in addition to that I picked up SG-1 Season 4 ("Window of Opportunity"! omgyay) and Hooligans (yay, Elijah!)

Met up with [livejournal.com profile] pgnblade and [livejournal.com profile] thebigfatman for some wandering around Target and then dinner at Uno's. *hearts them and their baby who is totally the only baby I will ever like omg*

Remember that big SGA hatememe implosion last week? Apparently we made it to fandom_wank. Twice. I happen to like the "BNFs" that were bashed in the meme, but that's just me. *shrug*

Having only caught the tail end of the implosion, I don't even know who the supposed BNFs are, but the chances are pretty high that I like them. Also that I don't really care about the whole kit and kaboodle.

*has a look at fandom wank* Oh, yeah I like them. Really, and they were yelling that others needed to get a life? Pot, kettle, black.

You shop in good way :P

My favorite part in the anon wank was when someone flippantly says that certain BNFs cannot write proper characterization and they are only popular because their writing is grammatically correct.

Uhm. Yeah, I'll take a bit of poor characterization over mangled English any day. And frankly, I'm not sure even TPTB have properly characterized anyone yet.

Yes, I read that and sort of gaped for a bit. Not the grammatical correct writer! How could they! Wasn't the rest of that comment something about how they write beautiful words but that doesn't make them better? I am a little worried as to what some people are looking for in fic.

*snort* I am not sure that TPTB in any fandom have managed to characterise any character fully, ever. They certainly don't hand specs out during the credits. Anyway, I (mistakenly it would seem) thought that fandom was the place to explore inside and outside of canon? I'll have to change that misaprehension.

People are just really... stupid. Just an hour ago I read a fic that had some potential, but it was completely ruined by terrible grammar and an ending that seems like the author just sort of forgot what they were doing and wandered off.

How is some slightly skewed characterization worse than piss-poor grammar?! How?!

*is slightly aggravated by something else at the moment*

Heh. I totally got tetchy over the whole thing.

You can find the summery of my feelings on the matter here:

*snork*

Back in MY day, we at least had the decency to make sockpuppet accounts if we wanted to try to be sneaky! All this anon stuff TOTALLY takes the important character building effort out of it.

Oh, man. Sock puppets! Those were the best. I mean, you really had to go to some effort if you wanted to insult people. This anon stuff is lame.

You are welcome to steal it away if you like! :D I believe it is a message that EVERYONE needs to see. For their own good. ;)
